Brian Thompson is a Senior Nutrition Officer at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). FAO is an intergovernmental organization, it has 191 Member Nations, two associate members and one member organization, the European Union. As a knowledge organization, FAO creates and shares critical information about food, agriculture and natural resources in the form of global public goods. FAO plays a connector role, through identifying and working with different partners with established expertise, and facilitating a dialogue between those who have the knowledge and those who need it. By turning knowledge into action, FAO links the field to national, regional and global initiatives in a mutually reinforcing cycle. Its mandate is to raise levels of nutrition and standards of living. What is the size of the malnutrition problem and what regions are most affected? There are persistently high levels of undernutrition. Nearly 870 million people in the world go to bed hungry (1 in 8 people) according to the recently released report of The State of Food Insecurity in the World 2012 (SOFI) and 2 billion have some form of micronutrient malnutrition – this constitutes a crime against humanity and is a responsibility for all of us. Prevalence of undernourishment in developing countries has declined over the past two decades, from 23 to 15 percent. In terms of total numbers in 1990– 92, around 980 million individuals were estimated to be undernourished. The number dropped to 901 million in 1999– 2001, to 885 million in 2006–06 and to 852 million in 2007–09. The financial crisis, economic downturn, persistent food price volatility, drought and other repercussions of climate change since 2006–08 may have prevented any further significant improvements in the number of people who are undernourished in developing countries since then. Africa has by far the highest prevalence, at around 23 percent in 2010–12 but though it is down from what it was in 1990–92 (27 percent) the numbers have risen from 175 million to 239 million with nearly 20 million added in the past four years. In subSaharan Africa, the modest progress achieved in recent years up to 2007 was reversed, with hunger rising 2 percent per year since then. In Asia, both prevalence and numbers dropped over the same period from 24 percent (739 million) to 14 percent (563 million). Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) boasts the lowest rate of undernourishment (8 percent) among developing country regions but the rate of progress has slowed recently. Countries considered as leastdeveloped countries and lowincome economies have the highest prevalence rates of all around 30 percent but down from the 40 percent levels of twenty years ago.

The influence of the transformational leadership and work motivation on teachers performance

Indonesia is a member of ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) that should own the quality of human resources. The education is the key to answer the demand of AEC. SMK Negeri 1 Bukiittingi, SMK PGRI Tanjung Raja and SMK Negeri 1 Pangkalan Kuras were institutions that ensure alumnus to world industry. Here we explored the strategy of headmaster on making educational quality toward AEC. We used qualitative phenomenology method in this article. To get the data, we used interview and document study. The results obtained indicate that the strategy of headmasters were upgrading teachers’ competence, upgrading students’ competence, developing curriculum and improving infrastructure.

The Strategy Of Headmaster On Upgrading Educational Quality In Asean Economic Community (AEC) Era

This study aimed at examining 1) the influence of headmaster’s supervision on effective teachers, 2) the influence of achievement motivation  on effective teachers, and 3) the influence of headmaster’s supervision and achievement motivation on effective teachers. This research used quantitative. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression formula SPSS (Statistical Product and Service Solution) version 16.0 for windows. This study showed 1) there was significant influence of headmaster’s supervision on effective teachers with tobtained 2,452 and ttable was 1,980; 2) there was significant influence of achievement motivation on effective teachers with tobtained 5,627 and ttable was 1,980, and 3) there was significant influence of headmaster’s supervision and achievement motivation on effective teachers with fobtained 23.618 and ftable was 3,267. This research contributed to the Headmaster should upgrade the supervision of teachers and achievement motivation where they would actualized the effective teachers. In this qualitative research, the focus was the strategy SD Pusri in Improving the quality of teachers and education personnel, quality of facilities and infrastructure and quality of management. The results obtained in this study indicate that SD Pusri strategy in improving the quality of educators and educational personnel through routine supervision of principals, delegation of authority, training, upgrading, seminars, technical guidance, workshops, and training, and to evaluate the performance of educators and educational staff offset by rewards. The strategy on improving the quality of facilities and infrastructure was done by coordinating through the early budgetary meetings, gradual fulfillment of facilities, comparative study and fulfillment the computer facilities. For management strategies, SD Pusri performed planning, program implementation and evaluation activities. The findings obtained by the Principal tend to use the concept of Total Quality Management (TQM) in the management process. Starting from the process of admission until the new graduation involving all parties. In addition, schools are always oriented to the satisfaction of school residents both internally and externally and the school together continuously in the form of improving the quality of education through various activities involving the school community. The Strategy Of SD Pusri In Improving Educational Quality

In this qualitative paper, we investigated in-depth about the strategy of the principal in preparing the students ready for the industrial revolution 4.0. The objects of research were State Vocational School 2 Palembang, State Vocational School 6 Palembang, Vocational School 2 Muara Enim, State Vocational School 1 Gelumbang, and Vocational School YTK Kimia Palembang. The data were carried out by interview, observation, and documentation. We found that some strategies used by 5 (five) Vocational Schools in South Sumatra in aligning education with the demands of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 era were improving the quality of facilities and infrastructure based on industrial needs (link and match). They upgraded teachers' competence appropriate with the era of industrial revolution 4.0 and then created competent and ready graduates in harmony with the program Making Indonesia 4.0 launched by the Ministry of Industry.
