A C1 mechanism for methane oxidation on platinum

TL;DR: In this article, a multistep methodology was applied to construct a C1 surface reaction mechanism for methane oxidation on platinum, which is capable of capturing the physics of methane oxidation over a wide range of operating conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI

The autothermal behavior of platinum catalyzed hydrogen oxidation: experiments and modeling

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the autothermal behavior of H 2 /O 2 mixtures over a platinum foil catalyst and found that the upper flammability limit depends on the relative adsorption rates of the H 2 and O 2 onto the platinum surface, and the desorption of adsorbed H∗.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of dilution on catalytic oxidation : model validation through experiments and predictions of operation regimes

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of dilution on H 2 /O 2 /N 2 oxidation over platinum is studied in a stagnation flow geometry, and the results show good agreement between theory and experiments regarding the autothermal temperatures, the occurrence and location of the surface stoichiometric point, and upper flammability limit.
