Journal ArticleDOI
Morning sector ion precipitation following substorm injections
TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the electric and magnetic field models derived by McIlwain (1972) from the energy dispersion of the particles injected at 6.6 RE at the substorm onset accounts for the main spatial and energy characteristics of these low-energy ion subauroral precipitation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Adiabatic acceleration induced by convection in the plasma sheet
Yu. I. Galperin,V.A. Gladyshev,N. V. Jorjio,R. A. Kovrazhkin,V. M. Sinitsin,F. Cambou,J. A. Sauvaud,J. Crasnier +7 more
TL;DR: A study of the average energy and temperature of ions precipitated in the nocturnal auroral zone during periods of low magnetic activity is presented in this paper, which can be concluded that the characteristics of ions at auroral altitudes well reflect their convection in the distant plasma sheet and the betatron and Fermi type acceleration accompanying it.
Journal ArticleDOI
Non-linear Alfven wave generator of auroral particles and ELF/VLF waves
V.M. Chmyrev,A. Berthelier,N. V. Jorjio,Jean-Jacques Berthelier,Jean-Michel Bosqued,Yu. I. Galperin,R. A. Kovrazhkin,C. Beghin,Mikhail Mogilevsky,S.V. Bilichenko,O. A. Molchanov +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the AUREOL-3 satellite was used to observe isolated and paired electromagnetic structures in the auroral ionosphere, where strong localized fluxes of accelerated field-aligned electrons and transverse O+ and He+ ions were detected, together with narrow electrostatic and whistler-mode wave beams and plasma density perturbations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Detection of suprathermal ionospheric o~ ions inside the plasmasphere
N. V. Jorjio,R. A. Kovrazhkin,Mikhail Mogilevsky,Jean-Michel Bosqued,H. Reme,J. A. Sauvaud,C. Beghin,Jean-Louis Rauch +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the AUREOL-3 satellite has revealed flows of low energy O(+) ions deep inside the night plasmasphere during a large substorm, accompanied by enhancements of ELF electric field noise.
Very low frequency and ELF effects in the upper ionosphere caused by large-scale acoustic waves in the lower ionosphere observed from AUREOL-3 satellite
