Journal ArticleDOI
Chiral doublet structures in odd-odd n = 75 isotones: chiral vibrations.
K. Starosta,Takeshi Koike,C. J. Chiara,D. B. Fossan,D. R. LaFosse,A. A. Hecht,C. W. Beausang,Mark A. Caprio,J. R. Cooper,R. Krücken,J. R. Novak,N. V. Zamfir,K. E. Zyromski,D. J. Hartley,D. L. Balabanski,J. Y. Zhang,S. Frauendorf,V. I. Dimitrov +17 more
TL;DR: Aplanar solutions of 3D tilted axis cranking calculations for triaxial shapes define left- and right-handed chiral systems out of the three angular momenta provided by the valence particles and the core rotation, which leads to spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking and the doublet bands.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evidence for a Possible E(5) Symmetry in 134 Ba
TL;DR: Evidence for the first empirical example of a transitional dynamical symmetry at a critical point is discussed in the spectrum of 134Ba and the role of such classes of symmetries in nuclear structural evolution is discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Coulomb excitation of radioactive 132,134,136Te beams and the low B(E2) of 136Te.
D. C. Radford,C. Baktash,J. R. Beene,B. Fuentes,B. Fuentes,A. Galindo-Uribarri,Carl J Gross,Paul Hausladen,T. A. Lewis,P. E. Mueller,E. Padilla,E. Padilla,Dan Shapira,D. W. Stracener,Chang-Hong Yu,C. J. Barton,Mark A. Caprio,L. Coraggio,A. Covello,A. Gargano,D. J. Hartley,N. V. Zamfir,N. V. Zamfir +22 more
TL;DR: The B(E2;0(+)-->2+) values for the first 2+ excited states of neutron-rich 132,134,136Te have been measured using Coulomb excitation of radioactive ion beams using realistic effective interactions.
Journal ArticleDOI
102 Pd : An E(5) nucleus?
N. V. Zamfir,N. V. Zamfir,Mark A. Caprio,R. F. Casten,C. J. Barton,C. W. Beausang,Z. Berant,Z. Berant,D. S. Brenner,W.-T. Chou,W.-T. Chou,J. R. Cooper,A. A. Hecht,R. Krücken,H. Newman,H. Newman,J. R. Novak,Norbert Pietralla,A. Wolf,A. Wolf,K. E. Zyromski +20 more
TL;DR: In this article, the decay of the Pd in the E(5) critical point symmetry state was studied with high efficiency Ge detectors, and the level scheme of Pd$ was shown to be in good overall agreement with the predictions of the E (5)-critical point symmetry, with the exception of the state of intruder character.
Journal ArticleDOI
Coulomb excitation of the 2 + ms state of 96 Ru in inverse kinematics
Norbert Pietralla,C. J. Barton,R. Krücken,C. W. Beausang,Mark A. Caprio,R. F. Casten,J. R. Cooper,A. A. Hecht,H. Newman,H. Newman,J. R. Novak,N. V. Zamfir,N. V. Zamfir +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the Coulomb excitation was used to identify the proton-neutron mixed-symmetry state of the nucleus of this nucleus, based on the measurement of the transition strengths.
