A low volume flexible CPW‐fed elliptical‐ring with split‐triangular patch dual‐band antenna

In this study, a coplanar waveguide-fed reconfigurable antenna using crescent-shaped fractal geometry is presented The frequency reconfigurable approach is obtained using radio-frequency positive intrinsic negative diodes, resistor, and inductors The proposed approach has successfully allowed reconfigurable switching up to eight frequency bands between 146 and 615 GHz Good results have been obtained in terms of stable and omnidirectional radiation patterns The realised gains of the antenna system, in these frequency bands, vary from 052 to 567 dBi The designed antenna has the advantages of a multiband structure and compact size over the previously reported structures The proposed antenna is suitable for future wireless application systems

Compact coplanar waveguide-fed reconfigurable fractal antenna for switchable multiband systems

In this paper, a compact elliptical dual band microstrip antenna fed with a coplanar waveguide is presented. The proposed antenna is designed and analyzed using a 3-D full-wave electromagnetic software named, High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) software based on finite element method (FEM). The design adopts a bi-layer substrate configuration where the elliptical radiating patch is printed on a Rogers RO3010 substrate of dimensions 2.265x2x0.75mm 3 , with a dielectric constant of 10.2 and loss tangent of 0.0035 on which the radiating patch occupies a surface area of 0.754mm 2 . The antenna operates at 28GHz and 38GHz, two of the selected bands allocated to 5G by International Telecommunications Union. The simulation results show that the antenna achieves a minimum wide bandwidth of 4.14GHz and a constant gain of 6dB over the operation frequency range. As a miniaturized antenna, its electric characteristics(impedance, bandwidth, radiation efficiency and gain) along with the antenna’s size have been chosen as comparison parameters with those found in recent research works.In addition, previous electric parameters, together with the return loss and VSWR have been selected for the proposed Elliptical antenna that have been improved by inserting two F-shaped slots in the ground plane. These slots in the ground plane are well-known as defected ground structure (DGS) technique.

A miniaturized printed monopole antenna for 5.2‐5.8 GHz WLAN applications

A dual band Substrate Integrated Waveguide; SIW microstrip patch antenna based on periodic H-Defected Ground Structure; H-DGS is designed for Ku band applications. SIW techniques provide low cost, small size and convenient integration with planer circuit. The proposed antenna structure is designed on a Roger 5058 substrate with a thickness of 1.6 mm, 2.2 of dielectric constant and tangent loss of 0.0009. The performance analysis of the proposed antennas is performed using finite element methods, and the simulation results show a gain and directivity of 7.03 dB and 7.38 dB respectively at 12.67 GHz center frequency and at 14.56 GHz a gain of 7.77 dB and directivity of 8.13 dB. The proposed antenna overall radiation efficiency is 95.25% and 95.60% at 12.67 GHz and 14.56 GHz, respectively. The obtained measurements show good agreement with the simulation results. The proposed antenna is compact, simple in structure, and can be used in a variety of applications in the Ku band.

Dual Band SIW Patch Antenna Based on H-Slotted DGS for Ku Band Application

A wideband rectangular patch antenna is presented and experimentally investigated in this paper to covering X- and Ku-Bands. The results are given in terms of the reflection coefficient, and the radiation pattern, and the realized gain. The simulated and experimental results are in agreement. The measured result shows that the wideband antenna works around two resonant frequencies of 11.073 GHz and 14.927 GHz and can cover a spectrum of 6.727 GHz between 9.011 GHz and 15.738 GHz (for return loss under −10 dB). The radiating patch of the antenna occupies an area of 9 × 6.5 mm2 and printed on FR-4 epoxy substrate. The overall size of the proposed antenna with a half printed ground plane is 15.5 × 10 × 1.6 mm3.

Miniaturized wideband printed rectangular patch antenna for X- and Ku-bands

In this communication, we propose a miniaturized rectangular dielectric resonator antenna (RDRA) for wireless communication services (WCS). The studied structure consists of a rectangular Dielectric resonator stacked on a thick layer of dielectric material that has very high permittivity. The numerical analysis was done by two different electromagnetic modeling software; Ansoft HFSS and CST. The obtained results are given in terms of the reflection coefficients and the radiation characteristics of the proposed antenna. The proposed antenna design operates around 2.314 GHz and provides an impedance bandwidth of 20 MHz.

Miniaturized rectangular dielectric resonator antenna for WCS standards

In this work, a compact rectangular monopole antenna is constructed. The results are given in terms of the reflection coefficient and the radiation pattern. The experimental result shows that the narrow band antenna works around resonant frequency of 5.065 GHz and can cover the spectrum of 272 MHz between 4.926 GHz and 5.198 GHz. The size of the proposed antenna with a slotted-feed line and a Defected Ground Structure (DGS) is compacted and printed on FR-4 epoxy substrate and occupies a volume of 14.5×8×1.6 mm3. The advantages in this fabricated antenna are the simple design with a low coast material and miniaturized patch size (5.5×7 mm2) and the spectrum of WLAN 802.11a band. The numerical analysis was carried out using a CST Microwave Studio.

Miniaturized printed rectangular monopole antenna with a new DGS for WLAN applications

In this paper, we proposed an annular dielectric resonator antenna loaded with printed monopole antenna for a tri-bands application. The results are given in terms of the reflection coefficient, the radiation pattern and the realized gain. Before loading the dielectric resonator, the broadband monopole antenna works around a resonant frequency of 2.704 GHz and can cover a spectrum of 2.1 GHz. However, after the integration of the DR, two other bands are created; the first one operates at 4.84 GHz resonant frequency and the other at 7.624 GHz. With this new structure, the antenna can be used for the three bands including; WIFI, WIMAX, and X band applications.
