Electric Potential Difference between Conjugate Points in Middle Latitudes Caused by Asymmetric Dynamo in the Ionosphere

TL;DR: In this paper, a new method is proposed for calculation of electric charge distribution in the ionosphere associated with the dynamo action for any given air motion, and it is shown that the height-gradient of the ionospheric conductivity plays a very important role for charge separation in ionosphere, which intensifies the eastward equatorial electrojet on the dayside.
Journal ArticleDOI

Archaeo-Aurora and Geomagnetic Secular Variation in Historic Time

TL;DR: In order to trace the secular variation of the geomagnetic field in historic time, the documents of ancient aurorae can be utilized as discussed by the authors, which can be reasonably supposed to describe the events of auroral appearance.
Journal ArticleDOI

Polar magnetic substorms

TL;DR: In this article, the connection between the electric current in the ionosphere, the field-aligned current and asymmetric equatorial ringcurrent in the magnetosphere is discussed from the world distribution of geomagnetic disturbance.
