The Relationship Between TSH and Free T4 in a Large Population Is Complex and Nonlinear and Differs by Age and Sex
Narelle Hadlow,Karen M. Rothacker,Karen M. Rothacker,Robert Wardrop,Suzanne J. Brown,Ee Mun Lim,Ee Mun Lim,John P. Walsh,John P. Walsh +8 more
TL;DR: At physiological free T₄ concentrations, TSH is higher in men and in older people, whereas the TSH response to hypothyroidism is more robust in younger people.
Journal ArticleDOI
Assessment of thyroid function during pregnancy: first-trimester (weeks 9-13) reference intervals derived from Western Australian women.
Rhonda M Gilbert,Narelle Hadlow,John P. Walsh,John P. Walsh,Stephen J. Fletcher,Suzanne J. Brown,Bronwyn G. A. Stuckey,Bronwyn G. A. Stuckey,Ee Mun Lim +8 more
TL;DR: First‐trimester‐specific reference intervals for thyroid function tests in pregnant women in pregnant Australian women are established to establish first‐ Trimester‐ Specific Reference intervals for Thyroid Function Tests.
Journal ArticleDOI
Age-specific TSH reference ranges have minimal impact on the diagnosis of thyroid dysfunction
Kalani M. Kahapola-Arachchige,Narelle Hadlow,Robert Wardrop,Ee Mun Lim,John P. Walsh,John P. Walsh +5 more
TL;DR: The aims were to determine age‐specific TSH reference ranges and to examine interassay differences in performance.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genome-wide association study with 1000 genomes imputation identifies signals for nine sex hormone-related phenotypes
Katherine S. Ruth,Purdey J Campbell,Shelby Chew,Ee Mun Lim,Narelle Hadlow,Bronwyn G. A. Stuckey,Bronwyn G. A. Stuckey,Suzanne J. Brown,Bjarke Feenstra,John Joseph,Gabriela L. Surdulescu,Hou-Feng Zheng,J. Brent Richards,J. Brent Richards,Anna Murray,Tim D. Spector,Scott Wilson,Scott Wilson,Scott Wilson,John R. B. Perry,John R. B. Perry,John R. B. Perry +21 more
TL;DR: This study highlights loci that are relevant to reproductive function and suggests overlap in the genetic basis of hormone regulation, using genotypes imputed from the 1000 Genomes reference panel.
Journal ArticleDOI
Self-collection: An appropriate alternative during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic.
Michael C Wehrhahn,Jennifer M. Robson,Suzanne J. Brown,Evan Bursle,Shane Byrne,David New,Smathi Chong,James P. Newcombe,Terri Siversten,Narelle Hadlow +9 more
TL;DR: Self-collection of throat and nasal swabs offers a reliable alternative to health worker collection for the diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 and other respiratory viruses and provides patients with easier access to testing, reduces exposure of the community and health workers to those being tested and reduces requirement for PPE.
