The Semanticscience Integrated Ontology (SIO) for biomedical research and knowledge discovery
Michel Dumontier,Michel Dumontier,Christopher J. O. Baker,Joachim Baran,Alison Callahan,Leonid L. Chepelev,Jose Cruz-Toledo,Nicholas Del Rio,Geraint Duck,Laura I. Furlong,Nichealla Keath,Dana Klassen,James P. McCusker,Núria Queralt-Rosinach,Matthias Samwald,Natalia Villanueva-Rosales,Mark Wilkinson,Robert Hoehndorf +17 more
TL;DR: The Semanticscience Integrated Ontology is an ontology to facilitate biomedical knowledge discovery that provides an ontological foundation for the Bio2RDF linked data for the life sciences project and is used for semantic integration and discovery for SADI-based semantic web services.
Book ChapterDOI
Probe-it!: visualization support for provenance
TL;DR: This paper introduces Probe-It!
Propagation and Provenance of Probabilistic and Interval Uncertainty in Cyberinfrastructure-Related Data Processing and Data Fusion
Paulo Pinheiro da Silva,Aaron A. Velasco,Martine Ceberio,Christian Servin,Matthew G. Averill,Nicholas Del Rio,Luc Longpre,Vladik Kreinovich +7 more
TL;DR: Algorithms for propagating uncertainty and for flnding the provenance for this uncertainty are described, which are made more urgent by the fact that the level of uncertainty associated with cyberinfrastructure resources can vary greatly and scientists have much less control over the quality of difierent resources than in the centralized database.
Book ChapterDOI
Inference Web in Action: Lightweight Use of the Proof Markup Language
TL;DR: This paper shows how an exemplar scientific application can use lightweight PML descriptions within the context of an NSF-funded cyberinfrastructure project and to describe lightweight use of language and its associated Inference Web tools.

ELSEWeb Meets SADI: Supporting Data-to-Model Integration for Biodiversity Forecasting
Nicholas Del Rio,Natalia Villanueva-Rosales,Deana Pennington,Karl Benedict,Aimee Stewart,Charles J. Grady +5 more
TL;DR: The ELSEWeb project facilitates the discovery and transformation of Earth observation data sources for the creation of species distribution models (data-to-model) transformations by using AI knowledge representation and reasoning techniques developed by the Semantic Web community.
