Book ChapterDOI
Intrinsic disorder associated with 14-3-3 proteins and their partners.
TL;DR: Approaches that, in the future, may help minimize the disproportion between the large amount of known 14-3-3 partners and the small number of 14- 3-3 complexes characterized with atomic precision, are discussed, to unleash the whole potential of 16-2-3 PPIs as drug targets.
Journal ArticleDOI
Role of hydrogen bond alternation and charge transfer states in photoactivation of the Orange Carotenoid Protein
Igor A. Yaroshevich,Eugene G. Maksimov,Eugene G. Maksimov,Nikolai N. Sluchanko,Dmitry V. Zlenko,Alexey Stepanov,Ekaterina A. Slutskaya,Ekaterina A. Slutskaya,Yury B. Slonimskiy,Yury B. Slonimskiy,Viacheslav S. Botnarevskii,Viacheslav S. Botnarevskii,Alina Remeeva,Ivan Gushchin,Kirill Kovalev,Valentin Gordeliy,Ivan V. Shelaev,Fedor E. Gostev,Dmitry Khakhulin,Vladimir V. Poddubnyy,Timofey S. Gostev,Dmitry A. Cherepanov,Dmitry A. Cherepanov,Tomáš Polívka,Miroslav Kloz,Thomas Friedrich,Vladimir Z. Paschenko,Victor A. Nadtochenko,Andrew B. Rubin,Mikhail P. Kirpichnikov,Mikhail P. Kirpichnikov +30 more
TL;DR: Yaroshevich et al. as discussed by the authors proposed a possible photoactivation mechanism of a 35-kDa blue light-triggered photoreceptor, the Orange Carotenoid Protein (OCP), suggesting that the reaction involves the transient formation of a protonated ketocarotinoid (oxocarbenium cation) state.
Journal ArticleDOI
Microalgal protein AstaP is a potent carotenoid solubilizer and delivery module with a broad carotenoid binding repertoire.
Yury B. Slonimskiy,Nikita A. Egorkin,Thomas Friedrich,Eugene G. Maksimov,Nikolai N. Sluchanko +4 more
TL;DR: AstaP as discussed by the authors is an efficient carotenoid solubilizer that can stably bind not only astaxanthin but also zeaxanthins, canthaxanthinis, and β-carotene, making it an especially attractive antioxidant delivery module.
Journal ArticleDOI
New 20-hydroxycholesterol-like compounds with fluorescent NBD or alkyne labels: Synthesis, in silico interactions with proteins and uptake by yeast cells.
Y. V. Faletrov,Vera S. Efimova,Matvey S. Horetski,Kristina V. Tugaeva,N. S. Frolova,Quingquing Lin,Isaeva Lv,Mikhail A. Rubtsov,Nikolai N. Sluchanko,L.A. Novikova,Vladimir M. Shkumatov +10 more
TL;DR: Three new 20-hydroxycholesterol-like pregn-5-en-3β-ol derivatives with fluorescent 7-nitrobenzofurazan (NBD) or Raman-sensitive alkyne labels in their side-chains are synthesized and found good predicted membrane permeability and binding to some yeast proteins, and tested the compounds on microorganisms.
Journal ArticleDOI
State of the phycobilisome determines effective absorption cross-section of Photosystem II in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803.
Elena A. Protasova,Taras K. Antal,Dmitry V. Zlenko,Irina V. Elanskaya,Evgeny P. Lukashev,Thomas Friedrich,Kirill S. Mironov,Nikolai N. Sluchanko,Baosheng Ge,Song Qin,Song Qin,Eugene G. Maksimov +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of quenching of phycobilisome (PBS) excitation energy is induced by the Orange Carotenoid Protein (OCP), which becomes photoactivated under high light conditions.
