Compilation of a Local VS Profile Database and Its Application for Inference of VS30 from Geologic‐ and Terrain‐Based Proxies
Jonathan P. Stewart,Nikolaos Klimis,Alexandros Savvaidis,Nikos Theodoulidis,Elena Zargli,George Athanasopoulos,P. C. Pelekis,George Mylonakis,Basil Margaris +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, a profile database (PDB) is compiled from published sources and engineering reports to estimate the time-averaged shear-wave velocity in the upper 30 meters of a site (V S 30 ).
Journal ArticleDOI
Duration and energy characteristics of greek strong motion records
TL;DR: In this article, an ensemble of 201 Greek strong motion components is analyzed and the respective duration and instrumental energy characteristics are determined, and a comparative study of these characteristics and their correlation with Modified Mercalli Intensity measures and peak response and input energy measures of SDOF systems reveal the most suitable ones which can serve as indicators of the damage potential of the ground motion.
Journal ArticleDOI
Site-dependent amplification functions and response spectra in Greece
TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a site classification system for the assignment of frequency-dependent amplification factors based on the average shear wave velocity over the upper 30 m. The criterion adopted for the allocation of sitedependent amplification functions is the average Shear Wave Velocity (AWV) for the Hellenic seismotectonic region.

The 8 June 2008 Mw6.5 Achaia–Elia, Greece Earthquake: Source Characteristics, Ground Motions, and Ground Failure
Basil Margaris,George Athanasopoulos,George Mylonakis,Christos Papaioannou,Nikolaos Klimis,Nikolaos Theodulidis,Alexandros Savvaidis,Vicky Efthymiadou,Jonathan P. Stewart +8 more
TL;DR: The Mw6.4 Achaia-Elia (Greece) earthquake on 8 June 2008 was a right-lateral strike-slip event on a nearly vertical faul as mentioned in this paper.

TL;DR: A few hours after the earthquake and during the subsequent three weeks, teams of experts (seismologists and civil engineers of the research staff of ITSAK) visited the meizoseismal area.
