Journal ArticleDOI
Different behavior of two Trypanosoma cruzi major clones: transmission and circulation in young Bolivian patients.
Simone Frédérique Brenière,Marie-France Bosseno,Jenny Telleria,Brigitte Bastrenta,Nina Yacsik,François Noireau,Jose-Luis Alcazar,Christian Barnabé,Patrick Wincker,Patrick Wincker,Michel Tibayrenc +10 more
TL;DR: The results suggest a limited selection in the transmission of the two clonets and a further drastic control of clonet 20 parasitemia by the immune system of children patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Integrate study of a Bolivian population infected by Trypanosoma cruzi, the agent of Chagas disease
Simone Frédérique Brenière,François Noireau,Nina Yacsik,Pascale Liegeard,Christine Aznar,Mireille Hontebeyrie +5 more
TL;DR: A cross section of a human population selected at random, and living in a Bolivian community, highly endemic for Chagas disease, was investigated combining together clinical, parasitological and molecular approaches, finding the anti-R13 reactivity was associated with early infection and not to cardiac pathology.
Journal ArticleDOI
Selection of Trypanosoma cruzi clonal genotypes (clonet 20 and 39) isolated from Bolivian triatomines following subculture in liquid medium
TL;DR: Among the 21 parasite stocks isolated from digestive tracts where mixed infections were initially detected (clonet 20 + 39) clonet 20 alone was detected in 81% of them, which clearly showed that the culture step selectedClonet 20 parasites over those belonging to clonet 39.
