Journal ArticleDOI
Exocytosis elicited by action potentials and voltage‐clamp calcium currents in individual mouse pancreatic B‐cells.
TL;DR: Inclusion of inhibitors of Ca2+/calmodulin‐dependent protein kinase II in the intracellular solution reduced the depolarization‐induced exocytotic responses suggesting this enzyme may be involved in the coupling between elevation of [Ca2+]i to stimulation of the secretory machinery.
Journal ArticleDOI
Inositol trisphosphate-dependent periodic activation of a Ca(2+)-activated K+ conductance in glucose-stimulated pancreatic beta-cells.
Carina Ämmälä,Olof Larsson,Per Olof Berggren,Per Olof Berggren,Krister Bokvist,Lisa Juntti-Berggren,Lisa Juntti-Berggren,Henrik Kindmark,Henrik Kindmark,Patrik Rorsman +9 more
TL;DR: It is shown that activation of a novel Ca2+-dependent K+ current in glucose-stimulated β-cells produces a transient membrane repolarization, which interrupts action potential firing so that action potentials appear in bursts.
Journal ArticleDOI
Judicial Independence and Political Uncertainty: How the Risk of Override Affects the Court of Justice of the EU
Olof Larsson,Daniel Naurin +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, an empirical study focused on the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU), which has long been at the center of theory development regarding the legalization of world politics and the rise of international courts, demonstrated a strong correlation between the CJEU's rulings and the political signals it receives, in a pattern that goes beyond legal merit, and that fits with the override mechanism.
Journal ArticleDOI
Stimulation of the KATP channel by ADP and diazoxide requires nucleotide hydrolysis in mouse pancreatic beta-cells.
TL;DR: The mechanisms by which ADP and the hyperglycaemic compound diazoxide stimulate the activity of the ATP‐regulated K+ channel (KATP channel) were studied using inside‐out patches isolated from mouse pancreatic beta‐cells maintained in tissue culture.
Journal ArticleDOI
Modifications of Ca2+ signaling by inorganic mercury in PC12 cells.
Anna D. Rossi,Olof Larsson,Luigi Manzo,Sten Orrenius,Marie Vahter,Per Olof Berggren,Pierluigi Nicotera +6 more
TL;DR: The results show that inorganic mercury has selective and different effects on Ca2+ signaling in PC12 cells depending on the concentration, within a narrow range.
