Journal ArticleDOI
Robot-assisted minimally invasive thoraco-laparoscopic esophagectomy versus open transthoracic esophagectomy for resectable esophageal cancer, a randomized controlled trial (ROBOT trial)
Pieter C. van der Sluis,Jelle P. Ruurda,Sylvia van der Horst,Roy J. J. Verhage,Marc G. Besselink,M. J. D. Prins,Leonie Haverkamp,Carlo Schippers,Inne H.M. Borel Rinkes,Hans C. A. Joore,Fiebo J.W. ten Kate,Hendrik Koffijberg,Christiaan C. Kroese,Maarten S. van Leeuwen,Martijn P. Lolkema,Onne Reerink,Marguerite E.I. Schipper,Elles Steenhagen,Frank P. Vleggaar,Emile E. Voest,Peter D. Siersema,Richard van Hillegersberg +21 more
TL;DR: If the hypothesis is proven correct, RATE will result in a lower percentage of postoperative complications, lower blood loss, and shorter hospital stay, but with at least similar oncologic outcomes and better postoperative quality of life compared with open transthoracic esophagectomy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of radiotherapy boost on pathological complete response in patients with locally advanced rectal cancer: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
J.P.M. Burbach,Annemarie M. den Harder,Martijn Intven,Marco van Vulpen,Helena M. Verkooijen,Onne Reerink +5 more
TL;DR: Dose escalation above 60 Gy for locally advanced rectal cancer results in high pCR-rates and acceptable early toxicity, and this observation needs to be further investigated within larger randomized controlled phase 3 trials in the future.
Journal ArticleDOI
Diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging for the prediction of pathologic response to neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy in esophageal cancer.
Peter S.N. van Rossum,Astrid L.H.M.W. van Lier,Marco van Vulpen,Onne Reerink,Jan J W Lagendijk,Steven H. Lin,Richard van Hillegersberg,Jelle P. Ruurda,Gert J. Meijer,Irene M. Lips +9 more
TL;DR: The treatment-induced change in ADC during the first 2-3weeks of nCRT for esophageal cancer seemed highly predictive of histopathologic response.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dynamic contrast enhanced MR imaging for rectal cancer response assessment after neo‐adjuvant chemoradiation
TL;DR: The value of dynamic contrast enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE‐MRI) for rectal cancer pathological response prediction is assessed and no optimal restaging modality is available after CRT.
Journal ArticleDOI
MRI-based tumor motion characterization and gating schemes for radiation therapy of pancreatic cancer.
H.D. Heerkens,Marco van Vulpen,Cornelis A. T. van den Berg,Rob H N Tijssen,Sjoerd P M Crijns,I. Q. Molenaar,Hjalmar C. van Santvoort,Onne Reerink,Gert J. Meijer +8 more
TL;DR: Gated delivery for radiotherapy of pancreatic cancer is best performed around the end exhale position as this is the most stable position in the breathing cycle.
