Journal ArticleDOI
Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury Revisited: An Overview of the Latest Pharmacological Strategies.
Ricardo O. S. Soares,Daniele Moraes Losada,Maria Cecília Jordani,Paulo Roberto Barbosa Evora,Orlando Castro-e-Silva +4 more
TL;DR: This review describes many of the latest pharmacological approaches that have been proven effective against IRI, while also revisiting well-established concepts and presenting recent pathophysiological findings in this ever-expanding field.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pharmacokinetics of Photogem using fluorescence monitoring in Wistar rats.
C. A. S. Melo,Cristina Kurachi,Clovis Grecco,Claudio Sibata,Orlando Castro-e-Silva,Vanderlei Salvador Bagnato +5 more
TL;DR: The obtained results show the viability of the fluorescence spectroscopic technique for the drug concentration monitoring in different target tissues and related pharmacokinetics and should be considered before any in vivo study of Photodynamic Therapy using Photogem.
Journal ArticleDOI
Acute Chagasic Myocardiopathy After Orthotopic Liver Transplantation With Donor and Recipient Serologically Negative for Trypanosoma cruzi: A Case Report
F.F. Souza,Orlando Castro-e-Silva,J A Marin Neto,Ajith Kumar Sankarankutty,Andreza Correa Teixeira,Ana de Lourdes Candolo Martinelli,Gilberto Gambero Gaspar,L. Melo,José Fernando de Castro Figueiredo,Minna Moreira Dias Romano,Benedito Carlos Maciel,Afonso Dinis Costa Passos,Marcos A. Rossi +12 more
TL;DR: This case highlighted that more appropriate screening for T cruzi infection is mandatory in potential donors and recipients of solid-organ transplants in regions where Chagas disease is prevalent, and stressed that this diagnosis should always be considered in recipients who develop cardiac complications, since negative serological tests do not completely discard the possibility of disease transmission.
Journal ArticleDOI
Spectral response for laser enhancement in hepatic regeneration for hepatectomized rats.
Orlando Castro-e-Silva,Sérgio Zucoloto,Luís Gustavo Marcassa,J. C. Marcassa,Cristina Kurachi,C. A. S. Melo,Fernando Silva Ramalho,Leandra Naira Zambelli Ramalho,Vanderlei Salvador Bagnato +8 more
TL;DR: This work investigates the dependence of different wavelengths irradiation in the enhancement of the tissue regeneration after partial hepatectomy in Wistar rats.
Journal ArticleDOI
Liver ischemia and reperfusion injury. Pathophysiology and new horizons in preconditioning and therapy.
Paula Carolina Grande Nakazato,João Paulo Victorino,Clarice Fleury Fina,Karina Dal Sasso Mendes,Maria Cecília Jordani Gomes,Paulo Roberto Barbosa Evora,Luiz Augusto Carneiro D'Albuquerque,Orlando Castro-e-Silva +7 more
TL;DR: The present paper review includes: Preventive strategies, non-pharmacological and pharmacological options to treat the liver IR injury, and the innate and acquired immunity.
