Journal ArticleDOI
BLyS: Member of the Tumor Necrosis Factor Family and B Lymphocyte Stimulator
Paul A. Moore,Ornella Belvedere,Amy Orr,Krystyna Pieri,David W. Lafleur,Ping Feng,Daniel R. Soppet,Meghan Charters,Reiner L. Gentz,David Parmelee,Yuling Li,Olga Galperina,Judith Giri,Viktor Roschke,Bernardetta Nardelli,Jeffrey Carrell,Svetlana Sosnovtseva,Wilbert Greenfield,Steven M. Ruben,Henrik S. Olsen,James Fikes,David M. Hilbert +21 more
TL;DR: The biological profile of BLyS suggests it is involved in monocyte-driven B cell activation, and its expression on human monocytes could be up-regulated by interferon-gamma.
Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis and release of B-lymphocyte stimulator from myeloid cells
Bernardetta Nardelli,Ornella Belvedere,Viktor Roschke,Paul A. Moore,Henrik S. Olsen,Thi Sau Migone,Svetlana Sosnovtseva,Jeffrey Carrell,Ping Feng,Judith Giri,David M. Hilbert +10 more
TL;DR: Results provide further support for an important role for BLyS expressed in myeloid cells in B-cell expansion and antibody responses.
Journal ArticleDOI
Using next-generation sequencing for high resolution multiplex analysis of copy number variation from nanogram quantities of DNA from formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded specimens
Henry M. Wood,Ornella Belvedere,Caroline Conway,Catherine Daly,Rebecca Chalkley,Melissa Bickerdike,Claire McKinley,Phil Egan,Lisa Ross,Bruce E. Hayward,Joanne E. Morgan,Leslie Davidson,Ken MacLennan,T.K. Ong,Kostas Papagiannopoulos,Ian Cook,David J. Adams,Graham R. Taylor,Pamela Rabbitts +18 more
TL;DR: It is confirmed that the next-generation sequencing technique can be used to interrogate DNA from cell lines, fresh frozen material and FFPE samples to assess copy number variation, and it is shown that as little as 5 ng of DNA is needed to generate a copy number karyogram.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fatigue: A main component of anemia symptomatology☆
Alberto Sobrero,Fabio Puglisi,A. Guglielmi,Ornella Belvedere,Giuseppe Aprile,Monica Ramello,F. Grossi +6 more
TL;DR: Amelioration of anemia and fatigue should be considered a primary endpoint of antineoplastic and supportive-care treatment of cancer patients and the search for new simplified methods of assessment of fatigue and other anemia-related symptoms and their treatment outcomes should be strongly encouraged.
Journal ArticleDOI
Low-Dose Computed Tomography Screening for Lung Cancer and Pleural Mesothelioma in an Asbestos-Exposed Population: Baseline Results of a Prospective, Nonrandomized Feasibility Trial—An Alpe-Adria Thoracic Oncology Multidisciplinary Group Study (ATOM 002)
Gianpiero Fasola,Ornella Belvedere,Marianna Aita,Tina Zanin,Alessandro Follador,Paolo Cassetti,Stefano Meduri,Vincenzo de Pangher,Giusto Pignata,Valentina Rosolen,Fabio Barbone,Francesco Grossi +11 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that LDCT may be at least as useful in asbestos workers as in heavy smokers for the early diagnosis of lung cancer; this benefit is evident even in a poor-risk population, with low rates of smoking prevalence and a previous history of radiological surveillance.
