Journal ArticleDOI

Angular emission properties of a layer of rare-earth based nanophosphors embedded in one-dimensional photonic crystal coatings

TL;DR: In this article, the angular properties of light emitted from rare-earth based nanophosphors embedded in optical resonators built in one-dimensional photonic crystal coatings are investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Optical and morphological characteristics of LP MOVPE grown lattice matched GaInP/GaAs heterostructures

TL;DR: In this article, the properties of low pressure metalorganic vapour phase epitaxy (LP MOVPE) grown lattice matched GaInP/GaAs heterostructures using atomic force microscopy (AFM), high resolution X-ray diffraction (HRXRD), micro-Raman spectroscopy (μ-R) and micro-photoluminescence (μPL).
Journal ArticleDOI

Super-resolved edge detection in optical microscopy images by superposition of virtual point sources

TL;DR: A new approach to the edge detection problem is presented, specially designed to achieve high accuracy detection, below instrumental resolution (super resolution) in microscopy images, based in a modified version of a recently published algorithm, SUPPOSe, which performs a numerical reconstruction of an image as a superposition of virtual point sources.
Journal ArticleDOI

Thermal expansion recovery microscopy: Practical design considerations

TL;DR: A detailed study of relevant parameters for the design and operation of a photothermal microscope technique recently introduced is presented and a method to cancel the thermoreflectance signal by an adequate choice of a nanometric coating is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI

Reliable passive mode locking with slow Q switching

TL;DR: In this article, an electro-optic modulator (EOM) was added to a passive mode-locked Nd:glass laser in order to slow Q-switch the cavity, which guarantees that the laser will work near threshold even if the gain of the laser medium or the losses change from shot to shot.
