Journal ArticleDOI
Bistabilities in 1,3,2-dithiazolyl radicals.
Jaclyn L. Brusso,Owen P. Clements,Robert C. Haddon,Mikhail E. Itkis,Alicea A. Leitch,Richard T. Oakley,Robert W. Reed,John F. Richardson +7 more
TL;DR: A mechanism for the interconversion of the two phases of PDTA and related structures is proposed in which hysteretic behavior arises from cooperative effects associated with the breaking and making of a lattice-wide network of intermolecular S - - -N' and/or S- - -S' interactions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bistability and the Phase Transition in 1,3,2-Dithiazolo[4,5-b]pyrazin-2-yl
Jaclyn L. Brusso,Owen P. Clements,Robert C. Haddon,Mikhail E. Itkis,Alicea A. Leitch,Richard T. Oakley,Robert W. Reed,John F. Richardson +7 more
TL;DR: The structural interconversion is suggested to proceed via the cooperative breaking and making of intermolecular S- - -N interactions and an inversion symmetry-preserving "domino cascade" of the pi-stacked rings.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dithiazolodithiazolyl Radicals: Substituent Effects on Solid State Structures and Properties
Leanne Beer,James F. Britten,Owen P. Clements,Robert C. Haddon,Mikhail E. Itkis,Kristin M. Matkovich,Richard T. Oakley, ,† and,Robert W. Reed +7 more
TL;DR: A general synthetic route to the pyridine-bridged dithiazolodithiazolyl framework R2BPR1, involving N-alkylation of a 4-substituted 2,6-dichloropyridine, followed by amination and double Herz cyclization with S2Cl2, has been developed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Polymorphism in a π-Stacked 1,3,2-Dithiazolyl Radical: Pyridyl-1,3,2-Dithiazolyl
Antonio Alberola,Owen P. Clements,Rebecca J. Collis,Louisa Cubbitt,Craig M. Grant,Robert J. Less,Richard T. Oakley,Jeremy M. Rawson,Robert W. Reed,Craig M. Robertson +9 more
TL;DR: Pyridyl-1,3,2-dithiazolyl PyDTA (1) has been synthesized and its electronic structure has been probed by cyclic voltammetry, electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy, and density functional theory calculations.
