Journal ArticleDOI
Functional anatomy of the Achilles tendon
Mahmut Nedim Doral,Mahbub Alam,Murat Bozkurt,Egemen Turhan,Ozgur Ahmet Atay,Gürhan Dönmez,Nicola Maffulli +6 more
TL;DR: Evidence suggests ruptured or pathological tendon produce more type III collagen, which may affect the tensile strength of the tendon, which is up to 12.5 times body weight.
Journal ArticleDOI
Discoid meniscus: an ultrastructural study with transmission electron microscopy.
Ozgur Ahmet Atay,Murat Pekmezci,Mahmut Nedim Doral,Mustafa F. Sargon,Mehmet Ayvaz,Darren L. Johnson +5 more
TL;DR: The ultrastructure of the discoid meniscus is different from the normal menisci and this difference may contribute to the vulnerability of the Discoid Meniscus to tears.
Journal ArticleDOI
Treatment of osteochondral lesions of the talus with microfracture technique and postoperative hyaluronan injection.
Mahmut Nedim Doral,Onur Bilge,G. Batmaz,Gürhan Dönmez,Egemen Turhan,Murat Demirel,Ozgur Ahmet Atay,Akın Üzümcügil,Kivanc Atesok,Defne Kaya +9 more
TL;DR: Treatment of osteochondral lesions of the talus using microfracture technique significantly improved functional and pain scores postoperatively and additional treatment with intra-articular hyaluronan injection as an adjunct to microf Fracture technique may offer better clinical outcomes over microfractionure technique alone.
Journal ArticleDOI
Women with patellofemoral pain syndrome have quadriceps femoris volume and strength deficiency.
Defne Kaya,Seyit Citaker,Ulku Kerimoglu,Ozgur Ahmet Atay,John Nyland,Michael J. Callaghan,Yavuz Yakut,İnci Yüksel,Mahmut Nedim Doral +8 more
TL;DR: Decreased torque, total volume, and CSA of the quadriceps muscle are presented in unilateral with PFPS although cause or effect cannot be established.
Journal ArticleDOI
Percutaneous suturing of the ruptured Achilles tendon with endoscopic control.
Mahmut Nedim Doral,Murat Bozkurt,Egemen Turhan,Mehmet Ayvaz,Ozgur Ahmet Atay,Akın Üzümcügil,Gürsel Leblebicioğlu,Defne Kaya,Tolga Aydoğ +8 more
TL;DR: The proposed method offers a reasonable treatment option for acute total Achilles tendon rupture with a low number of complications and the rerupture rate and return to preinjury activities are comparable to open and percutaneous without endoscopic control procedures.
