Awake craniotomy versus surgery under general anesthesia for resection of intrinsic lesions of eloquent cortex—A prospective randomised study
Deepak Gupta,P.S. Chandra,Bal Krishna Ojha,Bhawani Shankar Sharma,Ashok Kumar Mahapatra,V. S. Mehta +5 more
TL;DR: A prospective randomized comparative study of results of surgery under awake versus surgery under general anesthesia for intrinsic eloquent area lesions for intrinsic brain tumors in eloquent areas finds that awake surgery may achieve more aggressive tumor resection and minimize postoperative neurological morbidity.
Journal ArticleDOI
FAT1 acts as an upstream regulator of oncogenic and inflammatory pathways, via PDCD4, in glioma cells
Bhawana Dikshit,Khushboo Irshad,Evanka Madan,Nupur Aggarwal,Chitra Sarkar,P.S. Chandra,Deepak Gupta,P. Chattopadhyay,Subrata Sinha,Kunzang Chosdol +9 more
TL;DR: This study identifies a novel signaling mechanism mediated by FAT1 in regulating the activity of PDCD4 and thereby the key transcription factor AP-1, which then affects known mediators of neoplasia and inflammation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Role of simvastatin in prevention of vasospasm and improving functional outcome after aneurysmal sub-arachnoid hemorrhage: a prospective, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled pilot trial
Kanwaljeet Garg,Sumit Sinha,S S Kale,P.S. Chandra,Ashish Suri,Manmohan Singh,Rani Kumar,Manish Sharma,Rambha Pandey,Bhavani Shankar Sharma,A.K. Mahapatra +10 more
TL;DR: There was benefit of simvastatin in terms of reduction in clinical vasospasm, mortality or improved functional outcome, however, this was not statistically significant.
Journal ArticleDOI
Surgical considerations for 'intrinsic' brainstem gliomas: proposal of a modification in classification.
TL;DR: The surgical management of intrinsic brain stem tumors presents a surgical challenge; radical excision yielded a good outcome in the majority of cases and the authors propose a classification system for 'intrinsic' brainstem tumors for defining surgical strategy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Role of concordance between ictal-subtracted SPECT and PET in predicting long-term outcomes after epilepsy surgery.
P.S. Chandra,Gaurang Vaghania,Chandrasekhar Bal,Madhavi Tripathi,Nilesh Kuruwale,Amit Arora,Ajay Garg,Chitra Sarkar,Rekha Diwedi,Shrividya Malviya,Vasantha Padma,Manjari Tripathi +11 more
TL;DR: In both temporal and extratemporal epilepsies the concordance of the iSPECT/FDG-PET with the MRI/vEEG correlated with a better 5-year outcome, but this correlation was not found for the temporal epilepsy, where the MRI and vEEG were the most important prognostic parameters.
