Assessment of measuring errors in DIC using deformation fields generated by plastic FEA

TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of the adopted correlation function, the interpolation order, the shape function and the subset size on the derived displacements were investigated using numerically deformed images that were obtained by imposing finite element displacement fields on an undeformed image yielding plastic deformation of the specimen.
Journal ArticleDOI

Precise determination of the Poisson ratio in soft materials with 2D digital image correlation

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors demonstrate the application of digital image correlation (DIC) in evaluating the strains and Poisson ratio of a range of soft materials in terms of their spatial and temporal resolutions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Study of systematic errors in strain fields obtained via DIC using heterogeneous deformation generated by plastic FEA

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the influence of shape function, the interpolation order and the subset size on the derived strain fields and showed that the errors can be substantially reduced if conscious choices in the abovementioned implementations are made.
Journal ArticleDOI

DIC Challenge: Developing Images and Guidelines for Evaluating Accuracy and Resolution of 2D Analyses

TL;DR: This document will outline the goals of the challenge, describe the image sets that are available, and give a comparison between 12 commercial and academic 2D–DIC codes using two of the challenged image sets.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of DIC Spatial Resolution, Noise and Interpolation Error on Identification Results with the VFM

TL;DR: In this article, a simulator able to numerically simulate an experimental test, which involves digital image correlation (DIC) on white light speckles, is presented, where synthetic images are generated and then analyzed by DIC.
