Journal ArticleDOI

Phenolics: From Chemistry to Biology

TL;DR: Phenolics and polyphenols as discussed by the authors have received increasing interest in phenolics' biological activities, and several works addressing this matter are referred in this special issue of Molecules.
Journal ArticleDOI

Phenolic compounds and antimicrobial activity of olive (Olea europaea L. Cv. Cobrançosa) leaves.

TL;DR: At low concentrations olive leaves extracts showed an unusual combined antibacterial and antifungal action, which suggest their great potential as nutraceuticals, particularly as a source of phenolic compounds.
Journal ArticleDOI

Walnut (juglans regia l.) leaves: phenolic compounds, antibacterial activity and antioxidant potential of different cultivars

TL;DR: Walnut leaves selectively inhibited the growth of Gram positive bacteria, being B. cereus the most susceptible one and Lara the most effective one, and all of the studied walnut leaves cultivars presented high antioxidant activity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Quince (Cydonia oblonga Miller) fruit (pulp, peel, and seed) and jam: Antioxidant activity

TL;DR: The evaluation of the antioxidant activity of methanolic extracts showed that peel extract was the one presenting the highest antioxidant capacity, which seems to indicate that the phenolic fraction gives a higher contribution for the antioxidant potential of quince fruit and jam.
