Green synthesis of silver nanoparticles using the seaweed Gracilaria birdiae and their antibacterial activity
Anderson Passos de Aragão,Taiane Maria de Oliveira,Patrick Veras Quelemes,Márcia Luana Gomes Perfeito,Maria Carvalho Araújo,Janaína de Araújo Sousa Santiago,Vinicius Saura Cardoso,Pedro Quaresma,José Roberto S. A. Leite,Durcilene Alves da Silva +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, a simple method for the green synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) using as reducing and stabilizing agent a polysaccharide extracted from red algae Gracilaria birdiae present in the coast of Piaui was presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Development and Antibacterial Activity of Cashew Gum-Based Silver Nanoparticles
Patrick Veras Quelemes,Felipe Bastos Araruna,Bruna Ester Ferreira de Faria,Selma A S Kuckelhaus,Durcilene Alves da Silva,Ronaldo Zucatelli Mendonça,Carla Eiras,Maria José dos Santos Soares,José Roberto S. A. Leite +8 more
TL;DR: A green synthesis of silver nanoparticles reduced and stabilized by exuded gum from Anacardium occidentale L. occidentales presented antibacterial activity, especially against Gram-negative bacteria, in concentrations where no significant cytotoxicity was observed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Collagen-based silver nanoparticles for biological applications: synthesis and characterization.
Vinicius Saura Cardoso,Patrick Veras Quelemes,Adriany Amorin,Fernando Lucas Primo,Graciely Gomides Gobo,Antonio Claudio Tedesco,Ana Carolina Mafud,Yvonne Primerano Mascarenhas,José R. Corrêa,Selma A S Kuckelhaus,Carla Eiras,José Roberto S. A. Leite,Durcilene Alves da Silva,José Ribeiro dos Santos Júnior +13 more
TL;DR: The synthesis of silver nanoparticles stabilized with type I collagen to build a nanomaterial with biological utility exhibited favorable characteristics, including the spherical shape, diameter between 64.34 nm and 81.76 nm, positive zeta potential, antibacterial activity, and non-toxicity to the tested cells (OSCC).
Journal ArticleDOI
Quaternized cashew gum: An anti-staphylococcal and biocompatible cationic polymer for biotechnological applications.
Patrick Veras Quelemes,Alyne Rodrigues de Araújo,Alexandra Plácido,Cristina Delerue-Matos,Jeanny S. Maciel,Lucinda J. Bessa,Alicia S. Ombredane,Graziella Anselmo Joanitti,Maria José dos Santos Soares,Peter Eaton,Durcilene Alves da Silva,José Roberto S. A. Leite,José Roberto S. A. Leite,José Roberto S. A. Leite +13 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a quaternization route for cashew gum derivatives using quaternary ammonium reagent was presented, which showed promising antimicrobial activity against methicillin-resistant S. aureus and biocompatibility on tested cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
In Situ Synthesis of Silver Nanoparticles in a Hydrogel of Carboxymethyl Cellulose with Phthalated-Cashew Gum as a Promising Antibacterial and Healing Agent.
Lustosa Akmf,de Jesus Oliveira Ac,Patrick Veras Quelemes,Alexandra Plácido,da Silva Fv,Oliveira Is,de Almeida Mp,Amorim Adgn,Cristina Delerue-Matos,de Oliveira Rcm,da Silva Da,Peter Eaton,de Almeida Leite Jrs +12 more
TL;DR: Antibacterial tests were carried out and demonstrated that the gels exhibited improved wound healing when compared to the base hydrogel as a control, and these gels are proposed as excellent candidates for use as wound-healing treatments.
