Hydroxide Once or Twice? A combined Neutron Crystallographic and Quantum Chemical Study of the Hydride Shift in D-Xylose Isomerase

TL;DR: This work compute features of a “hydroxide once” mechanism for the hydride shift with quantum chemical calculations based on the 3KCO (linear) and 3KCL (cyclic) X-ray/neutron structures to postulate that forming permissive ionization states, required for cyclization, may be the rate limiting step.
Journal ArticleDOI

Attenuation corrections for X‐ray and neutron fibre diffraction studies

TL;DR: In this article, the transmission factor for sample geometries encountered in X-ray and neutron fiber diffraction studies is considered and a simple first-order approximation is compared and agree to within 1% for studies of the distribution of water and cations around DNA.
Journal ArticleDOI

Neutron fibre diffraction: Recent advances at the ILL

TL;DR: In this article, the authors outline the trend and the technological and methodological advances which are making it possible to perform high-resolution studies of DNA on diffractometer D19, which is the state-of-the-art in this area.
