Journal ArticleDOI
Collinearity: a review of methods to deal with it and a simulation study evaluating their performance
Carsten F. Dormann,Jane Elith,Sven Bacher,Carsten M. Buchmann,Gudrun Carl,Gabriel Carré,Jaime Ricardo García Márquez,Bernd Gruber,Bruno Lafourcade,Pedro J. Leitão,Tamara Münkemüller,Colin J. McClean,Patrick E. Osborne,Björn Reineking,Boris Schröder,Andrew K. Skidmore,Damaris Zurell,Sven Lautenbach +17 more
TL;DR: It was found that methods specifically designed for collinearity, such as latent variable methods and tree based models, did not outperform the traditional GLM and threshold-based pre-selection and the value of GLM in combination with penalised methods and thresholds when omitted variables are considered in the final interpretation.
Journal ArticleDOI
The EnMAP Spaceborne Imaging Spectroscopy Mission for Earth Observation
Luis Guanter,Hermann Kaufmann,Karl Segl,Saskia Foerster,Christian Rogass,Sabine Chabrillat,Theres Kuester,André Hollstein,Godela Rossner,Christian Chlebek,Christoph Straif,Sebastian Fischer,Stefanie Schrader,Tobias Storch,Uta Heiden,Andreas Mueller,Martin Bachmann,Helmut Mühle,Rupert Müller,Martin Habermeyer,Andreas Ohndorf,Joachim Hill,Henning Buddenbaum,Patrick Hostert,Sebastian van der Linden,Pedro J. Leitão,Andreas Rabe,Roland Doerffer,Hajo Krasemann,Hongyan Xi,Wolfram Mauser,Tobias Hank,Matthias Locherer,Michael Rast,Karl Staenz,Bernhard Sang +35 more
TL;DR: An overview of the main characteristics and current status of the EnMAP mission is provided, which will contribute to the development and exploitation of spaceborne imaging spectroscopy applications by making high-quality data freely available to scientific users worldwide.
Journal ArticleDOI
A standard protocol for reporting species distribution models
Damaris Zurell,Janet Franklin,Christian König,Phil J. Bouchet,Carsten F. Dormann,Jane Elith,Guillermo Fandos,Xiao Feng,Gurutzeta Guillera-Arroita,Antoine Guisan,José J. Lahoz-Monfort,Pedro J. Leitão,Daniel S. Park,A. Townsend Peterson,Giovanni Rapacciuolo,Dirk R. Schmatz,Boris Schröder,Josep M. Serra-Diaz,Wilfried Thuiller,Katherine L. Yates,Niklaus E. Zimmermann,Cory Merow +21 more
TL;DR: This work proposes a standard protocol for reporting SDMs, and introduces a structured format for documenting and communicating the models, ensuring transparency and reproducibility, facilitating peer review and expert evaluation of model quality, as well as meta-analyses.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparing the determinants of cropland abandonment in Albania and Romania using boosted regression trees
TL;DR: In this article, the authors estimated and compared the determinants of cropland abandonment in Albania and Romania during the postsocialist transitional period from 1990 to 2005, using boosted regression trees.
Journal ArticleDOI
The EnMAP-Box—A Toolbox and Application Programming Interface for EnMAP Data Processing
Sebastian van der Linden,Andreas Rabe,Matthias Held,Benjamin Jakimow,Pedro J. Leitão,Akpona Okujeni,Marcel Schwieder,Stefan Suess,Patrick Hostert +8 more
TL;DR: An overview of the EnMAP-Box is given, typical workflows along an application example are explained, and the concept for making it a frequently used and constantly extended platform for imaging spectroscopy applications is exemplified.
