Journal ArticleDOI
Drosophila host defense after oral infection by an entomopathogenic Pseudomonas species.
Nicolas Vodovar,Marisa Vinals,Peter Liehl,Alan Basset,Jeril Degrouard,Paul T. Spellman,Frédéric Boccard,Bruno Lemaitre +7 more
TL;DR: A previously uncharacterized bacterial species, Pseudomonas entomophila (Pe), is identified, which has the capacity to induce the systemic expression of antimicrobial peptide genes in Drosophila after ingestion and induces a dramatic change in larval gene expression.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prevalence of local immune response against oral infection in a Drosophila/Pseudomonas infection model.
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that AprA, an abundant secreted metalloprotease produced by P. entomophila, is an important virulence factor and points to an important role for the antimicrobial peptide Diptericin against orally infectious Gram-negative bacteria, emphasizing the critical role of local antimacterial peptide expression against food-borne pathogens.
Journal ArticleDOI
Infection-induced host translational blockage inhibits immune responses and epithelial renewal in the Drosophila gut
TL;DR: This study draws a model of pathogenesis in which bacterial inhibition of translation by excessive activation of stress responsive pathways inhibits both immune and regenerative epithelial responses.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association of Hemolytic Activity of Pseudomonas entomophila, a Versatile Soil Bacterium, with Cyclic Lipopeptide Production
Isabelle Vallet-Gely,Alexey Novikov,Luis A. Augusto,Peter Liehl,Gérard Bolbach,Maria Péchy-Tarr,Pierre Cosson,Christoph Keel,Martine Caroff,Bruno Lemaitre,Bruno Lemaitre +10 more
TL;DR: P. entomophila secretes a strong diffusible hemolytic activity that is linked to the production of a new cyclic lipopeptide containing 14 amino acids and a 3-C10OH fatty acid that is called entolysin.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparing in vivo bioluminescence imaging and the Multi-Cruzi immunoassay platform to develop improved Chagas disease diagnostic procedures and biomarkers for monitoring parasitological cure
Amanda F. Francisco,Ursula Saade,Shiromani Jayawardhana,Hans Pottel,Ivan Scandale,Eric Chatelain,Peter Liehl,John M. Kelly,Maan Zrein +8 more
TL;DR: Robust, high-throughput methodologies for monitoring the efficacy of anti-T.
