Journal ArticleDOI

Cytopathogenic and Noncytopathogenic RNA Replicons of Classical Swine Fever Virus

TL;DR: It is suggested that NS2, although it is not essential for pestivirus RNA replication, has a regulatory function therein.
Journal ArticleDOI

Oronasal vaccination with classical swine fever virus (CSFV) replicon particles with either partial or complete deletion of the E2 gene induces partial protection against lethal challenge with highly virulent CSFV.

TL;DR: The data suggest that E2 of CSFV is dispensable for the induction of mucosal but not of parenteral immunity, and E2-complemented CSF-VRP have the potential to be used as live-attenuated non-transmissible oral vaccines for pigs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Rescue of infectious classical swine fever and foot-and-mouth disease virus by RNA transfection and virus detection by RT-PCR after extended storage of samples in Trizol.

TL;DR: This method represents a safe and inexpensive alternative to -70 degrees C (dry ice) storage or transport of samples, and abolishes the biosafety risks involved in shipping deep-frozen infectious materials.
Journal ArticleDOI

Establishment and application of bicistronic classical swine fever virus genomes for foreign gene expression and complementation of E2 deletion mutants

TL;DR: Exercise of EGFP in cells infected with this virus indicated the potential of CSFV as a viral vector and shows that E2 deletion mutants can be complemented by expression of E2 from a separate cistron.
