An overview of the geochemistry of Eoarchean to Mesoarchean ultramafic to mafic volcanic rocks, SW Greenland: Implications for mantle depletion and petrogenetic processes at subduction zones in the early Earth

TL;DR: In this paper, the geochemical characteristics of Eoarchean to Meso-Archean ultramafic to mafic volcanic rocks (now amphibolites) in SW Greenland and compares them with those of Cenozoic oceanic island arc basalts, to evaluate Archean subduction zone petrogenetic processes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Contrasting geochemical patterns in the 3.7-3.8 Ga pillow basalt cores and rims, Isua greenstone belt, Southwest Greenland: implications for postmagmatic alteration processes

TL;DR: In this article, the authors show that the Isua pillow basalt basalt cores and rims are consistent with disturbances of the Sm-Nd and Rb-Sr systems by tectonothermal metamorphic events long after their eruption.
Journal ArticleDOI

Trace element systematics of the Neoarchean Fiskenæsset anorthosite complex and associated meta-volcanic rocks, SW Greenland: Evidence for a magmatic arc origin

TL;DR: The Fiskenaesset complex and associated volcanic rocks, southern West Greenland, provide new constraints on the petrogenesis and geodynamic setting of the complex as discussed by the authors, which appears to have been emplaced as multiple sills of magma and crystal mush into oceanic crust (tholeiitic basalts and gabbros).
Journal ArticleDOI

Field and geochemical characteristics of the Mesoarchean (∼3075Ma) Ivisaartoq greenstone belt, southern West Greenland: Evidence for seafloor hydrothermal alteration in supra-subduction oceanic crust

TL;DR: The Mesoarchean (ca. 3075Ma) Ivisaartoq greenstone belt in southern West Greenland includes variably deformed and metamorphosed pillow basalts, ultramafic flows (picrites), serpentinized ultramerafic rocks, gabbros, sulphide-rich siliceous layers, and minor siliciclastic sedimentary rocks.
Journal ArticleDOI

The origin and compositions of Mesoarchean oceanic crust: Evidence from the 3075 Ma Ivisaartoq greenstone belt, SW Greenland

TL;DR: The Ivisaartoq greenstone belt represents a relic of dismembered Mesoarchean supra-subduction zone oceanic crust as mentioned in this paper, and the trace element characteristics of the least altered rocks are consistent with a geodynamic setting and shallow mantle sources.
