Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of atrazine on sex steroid dynamics, plasma vitellogenin concentration and gonad development in adult goldfish (Carassius auratus)
Laura Spanò,Charles R. Tyler,Ronny van Aerle,Pierre Devos,S.N.M. Mandiki,Frédéric Silvestre,Jean-Pierre Thomé,Patrick Kestemont +7 more
TL;DR: Effects of atrazine on plasma androgen concentrations (androgen dynamics) and tissue (plasma and gonad) estrogen concentrations in male goldfish were dose- and time-related.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hepatic accumulation and effects of microcystin-LR on juvenile goldfish Carassius auratus L.
TL;DR: Structural alterations and enzymatic activity modifications became significant within 24 h post-injection and recovery of hepatocytes on day 21 after microcystin-LR injection was evident, together with a decrease in the MC-LR equivalent content of the liver.
Journal ArticleDOI
Differential protein expression profiles in anterior gills of Eriocheir sinensis during acclimation to cadmium.
TL;DR: Protein identification supports the idea that Cd mainly exerts its toxicity through oxidative stress induction and sulfhydryl-group binding, and shows the up-regulation of several antioxidant enzymes and chaperonins during acclimation process.
Journal ArticleDOI
Obligatory role of membrane events in the regulatory effect of metformin on the respiratory chain function.
TL;DR: The data strongly support the view that MET may recognise some specific membranous sites, likely belonging to effector systems, before penetrating the cell in a bound state via an obscure endocytotic event which still has to be identified.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of microcystin-LR on protein phosphatase activity in fed and fasted juvenile goldfish Carassius auratus L.
TL;DR: Fed and fasted juvenile goldfish Carassius auratus were injected intraperitoneally with microcystin-LR to determine the effect of alimentary status on the hepatic toxicity of MC-LR and both indicators were significantly altered after 6 h of fasted treatment.
