S3MPC: Improvement on Inland Water Tracking and Water Level Monitoring from the OLTC Onboard Sentinel-3 Altimeters
Nicolas Taburet,Lionel Zawadzki,Maxime Vayre,Denis Blumstein,Sophie Le Gac,François Boy,Matthias Raynal,S. Labroue,Jean-François Crétaux,Pierre Féménias +9 more
TL;DR: This paper makes use of the Sentinel-3A/Sentinel-3B tandem phase to assess the benefits of the Open-Loop tracking mode compared to Closed-Loop and the importance of knowing whether a water target was associated with a fine-tuned Open- Loop Tracking Command or an interpolated one is stressed.
Journal ArticleDOI
An Action Plan Towards Fiducial Reference Measurements for Satellite Altimetry
Stelios P. Mertikas,Craig Donlon,Pierrik Vuilleumier,Robert Cullen,Pierre Féménias,Achilles Tripolitsiotis +5 more
TL;DR: The problem and the need behind the FRM4ALT principle to achieve an objective Earth observation are examined, and the expected FRM products and services which are to come into being out of this new observational strategy are described.
Journal ArticleDOI
Transponder calibration of the Envisat RA-2 altimeter Ku band sigma naught
Nazzareno Pierdicca,Christian Bignami,M. Roca,Pierre Féménias,M. Fascetti,M. Mazzetta,C. N. Loddo,A. Martini,S. Pinori +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a review of the entire effort for calibrating the RA-2 sigma naught measurements, which lasted for almost seven years, is presented in detail the adopted methodology and the final outcome of the activity, providing the users with the correction (bias) to get the calibrated SNA and analyzing its stability during almost the entire Envisat lifetime.
Journal ArticleDOI
CryoSat-2 range, datation and interferometer calibration with Svalbard transponder
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present the method to estimate the range, datation and angle-of-arrival errors from the transponder data and apply it to six years of Baseline C data to derive potential biases and drifts.
Journal ArticleDOI
Absolute Calibration of the European Sentinel-3A Surface Topography Mission over the Permanent Facility for Altimetry Calibration in west Crete, Greece
Stelios P. Mertikas,Craig Donlon,Pierre Féménias,Constantin Mavrocordatos,Demitris Galanakis,Achilles Tripolitsiotis,X. Frantzis,Costas Kokolakis,Ilias N. Tziavos,Georgios S. Vergos,Thierry Guinle +10 more
TL;DR: Calibration results for the altimeter of Sentinel-3A Surface Topography Mission as determined at the Permanent Facility for Altimetry Calibration in west Crete, Greece are presented.
