Free and total malondialdehyde assessment in biological matrices by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry : what is needed for an accurate detection
TL;DR: A method to determine free and total (free and bound) malondialdehyde (MDA) in fresh human plasma, or in rat liver microsomes, using selected ion monitoring (SIM) gas chromatography-mass spectrometry in the electron impact mode was set up.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evidence for the presence of 7-hydroperoxycholest-5-en-3β-ol in oxidized human LDL
Bruno Malavasi,M.F. Rasetti,P. Roma,Roberta Fogliatto,Pietro Allevi,Alberico L. Catapano,Giovanni Galli +6 more
TL;DR: Analysis of the components by thin layer chromatography and mass spectrometry allowed to establish that 7 alpha- and 7 beta-hydroperoxycholest-5-en-3 beta-ol (7 alpha OOH and beta OOH) are largely prevalent among the oxysterols at early times of oxidation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Stereoselective glucosidation of podophyllum lignans. A new simple synthesis of etoposide
Journal ArticleDOI
Use of Methyl Malondialdehyde as an Internal Standard for Malondialdehyde Detection: Validation by Isotope-Dilution Gas Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry
TL;DR: A “reference method” for free and total plasma MDA quantification, as the phenylpyrazole derivative, by isotope-dilution gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (ID-GC-MS) with dideuterated MDA (d2-MDA) as internal standard is reported, which offers the possibility of validating other proposed internal standards that differ from MDA in structure, stability, and reactivity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis of carminic acid, the colourant principle of cochineal
Pietro Allevi,Mario Anastasia,Steve J. Bingham,Pierangela Ciuffreda,Alberto Fiecchi,Giuliana Cighetti,M. Muir,Antonio Scala,John H. P. Tyman +8 more
TL;DR: The first synthesis of carminic acid (7β-D-glucopyranosyl-3,5,6,8-tetrahydroxy-1-methyl-9,10-dioxo- 9, 10-dihydroanthracene-2-carboxylic acid) is described in this article.
