Journal ArticleDOI

Formation of binary and ternary colloids and dissolved complexes of organic matter, Fe and As.

TL;DR: It is shown that binary and ternary colloids and dissolved complexes of As(V), Fe and organic matter (OM) form at environmentally relevant conditions and these colloids/complexes using ATR-FTIR- and Mossbauer-spectroscopy suggest that As (V) is associated with Fe-OM mainly via ferrihydrite-OM colloids but to a small extent also in dissolved Fe- OM complexes via Fe-bridging.
Journal ArticleDOI

Influence of Natural Organic Matter on As Transport and Retention

TL;DR: Overall, the experiments reveal that NOM can enhance transport/mobilization of As, different fractions of NOM are capable of As mobilization, and freshly extracted SOM had greater impact on As transport than purified GFA/PHA.
Journal ArticleDOI

Desorption of arsenic from clay and humic acid-coated clay by dissolved phosphate and silicate

TL;DR: The results of this study showed that HA sorption to Ca(2+)-homoionized clay minerals can increase As binding to the clay although the As sorbed to the Clay-HA is also released to a greater extent by competing ions such as phosphate and silicate.
Journal ArticleDOI

Surface binding site analysis of Ca2+-homoionized clay-humic acid complexes.

TL;DR: The results of this study indicate that the sorption of humic substances increases the availability of clay surface functional groups for deprotonation and potential Sorption of toxic metal cations.
