Structural basis of SARS CoV 2 3CL PRO drug and antiCOVID-19 discovery from medicinal plants - A review

In recent years, the educational system has focused more on the holistic development of an individual. Modern technology has changed the educational environment to provide students with better academic opportunities. Along with the education system, teaching techniques and learning tools have also changed with digital evolution. This research was undertaken to assess the academic performance of interactive teaching methods in offline and online platforms in Periodontics among BDS undergraduates at a dental college in India. This prospective study was conducted among 49 students: Group I (n = 24, online class through Zoom) and Group II (n = 25, offline classes). The subject was divided into three modules and was covered in one week. The topics covered, teaching methods, lectures, and activities were similar for both groups. A formative assessment mark was obtained from written tests during the module, whereas the summative assessment mark was recorded from exams conducted towards the end of the module. In the results, a statistically significant difference was not observed in terms of formative assessment between Group I (77.88 ± 12.89) and Group II (77.80 ± 16.09) (p = 0.98). In addition, a statistically significant difference was not observed in terms of summative assessment between Group I (80.54 ± 8.39) and Group II (80.28 ± 11.57) (p = 0.93). Overall, this study suggests that interactive teaching methods in both offline and online platforms in Periodontics showed equivalent performance by the undergraduate dental students.

There are 5 different branches in Salivaomics which are the diagnostic alphabets which include proteins, mRNA's, miRNA, metabolic compounds, and Microbes. Salivary genomics is the study of whole genomes i.e., DNA of all the organisms. Salivary proteomics is the study of the proteins present in the saliva. Saliva contains about 1,166 proteins. Salivary Metabolomics is the study in which small metabolites present within the system. Salivary transcriptomics is related to the diagnosis of mRNA. Around 185 mRNAs are found common in all healthy humans. Saliva has a proportionately distributed ratio of bacterial colonies like Bacteroidetes, Fusobacterium, Prevotells, Proteobacteria, Veillonella etc. The advantages of Salivaomics include potential diagnostic value, Safer and easier for the health care professionals compared to blood sampling which sometimes causes cross-infection, Multiple samples can also be obtained easily. There are certain disadvantages which make salivaomics less reliable and preference as a diagnostic tool, These include Composition and flow of the saliva is influenced by the method of saliva collection and also stimulation of saliva flow, biomarkers in saliva which are not reliable, Proteins present in the saliva are also affected by the rate of flow of saliva. Are children essentially immune to COVID? - A review

Aim and Objective: This study was done to compare the conventional notes and popplet notes for learning pathology among II year BDS students in Saveetha Dental College. Background: New methods are used to improve the standard of education. Pathology is a versatile subject and the concepts are hard to understand. Popplet helps in effective education and teaching. It interprets concepts in a better way, facilitates learning and improves the performance. Materials and Method: A total of 27 students were given conventional notes to learn and test was conducted and assessed. The same students were given popplet notes to learn and test was conducted and assessed. The results were compared to find the efficacy of two methods. Result: 70.3% of the students passed the test when they used conventional notes while 88.8% of the students passed the test when they used popplet notes for learning. Conclusion: Popplet notes simplifies the content, has the ability to insert images and the app can be installed free of cost. Students showed keen interest on using popplet notes than conventional notes. Using popplet notes is more effective than conventional notes.
