A Calculation Method of Mooring Force Induced by Waves

Five generalized physical models of different distortion ratios were built according to DOU Guo-ren' s similarity theory of total sediment transport modeling for estuarine and coastal regions. Experiments on local scour in front of groins were made under the actions of tidal currents and waves with clear and sediment entraining water. The scour depths under different dynamic actions are compared. The effect of the distortion ratio on the depth of scour hole is discussed. A relationship between scour depths for distorted and undistorted models is given.

To meet the requirement of wharf design and using-guide for Shandong LNG receiving station project,the physical model of ship mooring was carried out in order to determine the maximal ship motion,lines force and impact force under the combined action of wind,wave,current and different loadage and water levels.Two berth lengths for 266,000 m3 LNG(370 m and 390 m) and two mooring line arrangements(4222 and 3322)were compared.The results show that mooring conditions can be improved with the decrease of berth length.The average reduction is about 10% for ship motion and 4%~11% for lines force,but the change of impact force is not obvious.The ship motion and impact force can satisfy the recommendation of PIANC(1995).The line force over standard(50%MBL) occurs under 10 s and 12 s wave periods,and the line arrangement of 3322 is better than 4222.The fender impact force can satisfy the design standard value.
