PDGF signaling is required for epicardial function and blood vessel formation in regenerating zebrafish hearts
Jieun Kim,Qiong Wu,Yolanda Zhang,Katie M. Wiens,Ying Huang,Nicole Rubin,Hiroyuki Shimada,Robert I. Handin,Michael Y. Chao,Tai-Lan Tuan,Vaughn A. Starnes,Ching-Ling Lien +11 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that PDGF signaling plays important roles in epicardial function and coronary vessel formation during heart regeneration in zebrafish, and inhibition ofPDGF signaling in vivo impairs epicardials cell proliferation, expression of mesenchymal and mural cell markers, and coronary blood vessel formation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Micro-Electrocardiograms to Study Post-Ventricular Amputation of Zebrafish Heart
Ping Sun,Yolanda Zhang,Fei Yu,Elizabeth Parks,Althea Lyman,Qiong Wu,Lisong Ai,Changhong Hu,Qifa Zhou,K. Kirk Shung,Ching-Ling Lien,Tzung K. Hsiai +11 more
TL;DR: A minimally invasive methodology to monitor zebrafish heart function, electrical activities, and regeneration in real-time by the use of micro-electrodes, signal amplification, and a low pass-filter at a sampling rate of 1 kHz is demonstrated.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Longitudinal study of adult zebrafish heart regeneration using high frequency echocardiography
TL;DR: Experimental results show a consistent decrease of the scar volume, which suggests the replacement of the blood clot by regenerated myocardium along the days post amputation, and the continuing recovery of ventricular functions, correlating well with the structural regeneration.
