On the tensile mechanical characteristics of fine-grained granite after heating/cooling treatments with different cooling rates

TL;DR: In this article, the results from tests performed to investigate the tensile mechanical characteristics of granite after exposure to heating and cooling treatments were analyzed using the Brazilian disc method, and the results showed that the water-cooled samples exhibited the largest decrease in P-wave velocity and the largest numbers of newly generated cracks on the surface, which indicates that the samples heated and cooled at higher cooling rates were more susceptible to the heating/cooling treatments.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fracture Evolution Around a Cavity in Brittle Rock Under Uniaxial Compression and Coupled Static–Dynamic Loads

TL;DR: In this article, several rock samples with a mini-tunnel were prepared and subjected to monotonic axial and coupled static-dynamic loading until failure, and the effect of applying different amounts of static pre-stresses on the velocity of the primary tensile crack was observed for the crack initiation stress threshold.
Journal ArticleDOI

Experimental investigation of the dynamic response of prestressed rockbolt by using an SHPB-based rockbolt test system

TL;DR: In this article, a new test system was developed to investigate the dynamic response of prestressed rockbolts to repeated impact loading, which involved the modification of a split Hopkinson pressure bar, such that the static prestress and dynamic tensile stress wave could be simultaneously applied on the rockbolt specimen.
Journal ArticleDOI

Experimental Investigation on Rockbolt Performance Under the Tension Load

TL;DR: In this article, a static and dynamic Brazilian splitting test of steel bar reinforced red sandstones were carried out to investigate the rockbolt performance under tension load, and the deformation changes on the specimen's surface and the bolt were recorded during the test.

Effects of high temperature on the microstructure and mechanical behavior of hard coal

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of high temperature on the structure and mechanical properties of coal samples with different heating temperatures was investigated. And the results showed that the physical and chemical change processes of coal sample under high temperature can be divided into two stages: the stage of drying and degassing and the stages of pyrolysis of the coal matrix.
