Exact Optimal Power Dispatch in Unbalanced Distribution Systems With High PV Penetration
TL;DR: Effective computational strategies are proposed to allow the application of predictor-corrector primal-dual interior point method to solve optimization problems in real-time with a large number of constraints and variables, including discrete variables corresponding to switched capacitors and voltage regulators.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Advances in volt-var control approaches in utility distribution systems
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors reviewed existing and emerging volt-var control techniques in the distribution systems with distributed energy resources (DER), electric vehicle loads, and new requirements like conservation voltage reduction (CVR).
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Improving performance of single-phase SOGI-FLL under DC-offset voltage condition
TL;DR: An improved control method for the SOGI-FLL when the grid contains a DC component is introduced, where the value of the DC component voltage is estimated online and totally removed from the frequency control loop.
Journal ArticleDOI
Coordinative real-time sub-transmission volt–var control for reactive power regulation between transmission and distribution systems
Xinda Ke,Nader Samaan,Jesse Holzer,Renke Huang,Bharat Vyakaranam,Mallikarjuna R. Vallem,Marcelo A. Elizondo,Ning Lu,Xiangqi Zhu,Brant Werts,Quan Nguyen,Alex Q. Huang,Yuri V. Makarov +12 more
TL;DR: This study introduces a new approach for coordinating volt-var control (VVC) between sub-transmission and distribution systems through optimal reactive power dispatch of distributed energy resources (DERs) that are aggregated as virtual power plants (VPPs).
Journal ArticleDOI
Power Flow in a Multi-Frequency HVac and HVdc System: Formulation, Solution, and Validation
TL;DR: The efficacy and accuracy of the proposed steady-state solution algorithm are demonstrated by comparing the numerical solution to the one obtained by time-domain electromagnetic models of multi-frequency HVac and HVdc transmission systems with fully controllable back-to-back and ac/dc converters.
