Practical definitions for powers in systems with nonsinusoidal waveforms and unbalanced loads: a discussion
R. Arseneau,Yahia Baghzouz,Jean Belanger,K. Bowes,Artur Braun,A. Chiaravallo,M.D. Cox,S. Crampton,A.E. Emanuel,P.S. Filipski,E. Gunther,A. Girgis,D. Hartmann,Shu-Dong He,G. Hensley,D. Iwanusiw,W. Kortebein,T. McComb,A. McEachern,T. Nelson,N. Oldham,D. Piehl,K. Srinivasan,R. Stevens,T. Unruh,D. Williams +25 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors propose definitions for power terms in alternating current systems that are practical and effective when voltage and/or currents are distorted or unbalanced, and also suggest definitions for measurable values that may be used to indicate the level of distortion and unbalance.
IEEE Std 1459–2010. IEEE Standard Definitions for the Measurement of Electric Power Quantities under Sinusoidal, Nonsinusoidal, Balanced or Unbalanced Conditions
Salvatore Nuccio,Antonio Cataliotti,Dario Di Cara,Valentina Cosentino,A.E. Emanuel,Jp Abreu,R. Arseneau,S Barcon,A Berrisford,Yahia Baghzouz,Jl Willems,Aavv Et Al +11 more
Journal ArticleDOI
The effects of supply harmonics on the performance of compact fluorescent lamps
R. Arseneau,M. Ouellette +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a performance evaluation of ten compact fluorescent lighting systems operated with sinusoidal and distorted voltage waveform conditions is described, and the operating cost of these lamps is calculated and compared to the cost of operating a conventional 60 W incandescent lamp.
Journal ArticleDOI
An improved three phase digital recorder system for calibrating power instrumentation
TL;DR: In this paper, an improved digital recorder system was used to provide reference values of voltage, current, active, reactive and apparent powers and harmonic quantities for three-phase sinusoidal and nonsinusoidal calibrations.
Journal ArticleDOI
A survey of North American electric utility concerns regarding nonsinusoidal waveforms
R. Arseneau,Yahia Baghzouz,Jean Belanger,K. Bowes,Artur Braun,A. Chiaravallo,M.D. Cox,S. Crampton,A.E. Emanuel,P.S. Filipski,E. Gunther,A. Girgis,D. Hartmann,Shu-Dong He,G. Hensley,D. Iwanusiw,W. Kortebein,T. McComb,A. McEachern,T. Nelson,N. Oldham,D. Piehl,K. Srinivasan,R. Stevens,T. Unruh,D. Williams +25 more
TL;DR: In this article, 50 utilities in the United States and Canada responded to a questionnaire survey regarding concerns about nonsinusoidal waveforms in the electric distribution network, regarding instrumentation, apparent and reactive power definitions, meter errors, rates, and trends.
