Journal ArticleDOI

Determination of Physical Property Gradients from Measured Surface Wave Dispersion

TL;DR: The phase velocity variation with depth is obtained and is correlated to variations of the physical property gradient, thereby providing much greater precision than that obtainable by previously reported tone-burst measurements.
Journal ArticleDOI

Visualization of surface elastic waves on structural materials

TL;DR: Adler, Korpel, and Desmares as discussed by the authors developed a technique for the visualization of surface elastic waves and applied it to the problem of inspecting structural materials, including holes in sheets and plates, cracks in surfaces, and metallurgical variations in nominally defect-free material.
Journal ArticleDOI

Predictions of the Gauss-Hermite beam model and finite element methodf or ultrasonic propagation through anisotropic stainless steel

TL;DR: The predictions of the Gauss-Hermite beam model are compared to those obtained by the finite-element method for a model problem and the predictions are found to be in good agreement near the center of the beam, with deviations developing as one moves away from the central ray.
Book ChapterDOI

Validity of the Gauss-Hermite Beam Model in an Anisotropic Layered Medium: Comparison to the Finite Element Method

TL;DR: In this article, a numerical model is used to predict the propagation of the ultrasonic fields through layered, anisotropic materials, which is made more effective by the availability of the numerical model.
