Journal ArticleDOI
A Sm-Nd isotopic study of atmospheric dusts and particulates from major river systems
TL;DR: In this paper, the average ratio of Sm/Nd is about 0.19 in the upper continental crust, and has remained so since the early Archean, thereby precluding the likelihood of major mafic-to-felsic or felsicto-mafic trends in the overall composition of the sedimentary mass through earth history.
Journal ArticleDOI
Rare-earth abundances in chondritic meteorites
TL;DR: In this article, 15 chondrites, including eight carbonaceous chondites, were analyzed for rare earth element abundances by isotope dilution, and the persistence of anomalies in chondritic materials relatively removed from direct condensational processes implies that anomalous components were introduced at a late stage of chondrite formation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Variations in143Nd/144Nd and87Sr/86Sr ratios in oceanic basalts
TL;DR: In this article, a strong negative correlation exists between 87Sr/86Sr ratios in oceanic basalt from Iceland and the Reykjanes Ridge, but such a clear correlation does not exist for samples from the Hawaiian Islands.
Journal ArticleDOI
Geochemical modeling of mantle differentiation and crustal growth
TL;DR: A simple two-reservoir model with time-dependent transport coefficients between the reservoirs has been used to model the abundances of K, Ar, Rb, Sr, Sm, Nd, U, Th, and Pb in the earth's mantle and continental crust as discussed by the authors.
