Intrinsic Optical Absorption in Single-Crystal Germanium and Silicon at 77°K and 300°K

TL;DR: In this article, the intrinsic absorption spectra of high-purity single-crystal germanium and silicon have been measured at 77\ifmmode^\circ\else\text degree\fi{}K and 300\ifmode^''circ\decrease\textdegree\fi {}K, respectively.
Journal ArticleDOI

Optical Properties of Nickel Oxide

TL;DR: The absorption spectrum of NiO has been measured in the 0.1 to 6 ev range and its reflectivity spectrum from 0.025 to 10 ev as mentioned in this paper, showing a series of lines from 1 to 3.5 ev arising from internal transitions of the Ni ion.
Journal ArticleDOI

Visible Light from a Silicon p − n Junction

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of surface treatment on the phenomenon are discussed and two typical light output vs reverse current curves are shown, which suggest that the light results from a radiative relaxation mechanism involving the high-energy carriers produced in the avalanche breakdown process.
Journal ArticleDOI

Optical Properties of n-Type InP

TL;DR: In this article, the intrinsic absorption edge of $n$-type InP at 77\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}K and 300\ifmode^''circ\decrease\text degree\fi {}K are reported.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of Impurities on Free-Hole Infrared Absorption in p-Type Germanium

TL;DR: In this article, the free-hole absorption in $p$-type germanium (gallium-doped) was studied as a function of concentration over the range from 10 − 15 to 10 − 20$ acceptors/${\mathrm{cm}}^{3}.
