Cameras are becoming ubiquitous in the Internet of Things (IoT) and can use face recognition technology to improve context. There is a large accuracy gap between today’s publicly available face recognition systems and the state-of-the-art private face recognition systems. This paper presents our OpenFace face recognition library that bridges this accuracy gap. We show that OpenFace provides near-human accuracy on the LFW benchmark and present a new classification benchmark for mobile scenarios. This paper is intended for non-experts interested in using OpenFace and provides a light introduction to the deep neural network techniques we use. We released OpenFace in October 2015 as an open source library under the Apache 2.0 license. OpenFace: A general-purpose face recognition library with mobile applications

This paper presents comparison concerning various biometric systems simply by defining their advantages and disadvantages. A brief introduction is usually offered regarding commonly used biometrics, including, Face, Iris, Fingerprint, Finger Vein, Lips, Voice. The comparison criteria list introduced is restricted to accuracy, size of template, cost, security level, and long term stability.

Comparison of various biometric methods

In the field of artificial intelligence, human–computer interaction (HCI) technology and its related intelligent robot technologies are essential and interesting contents of research. From the perspective of software algorithm and hardware system, these above-mentioned technologies study and try to build a natural HCI environment. The purpose of this research is to provide an overview of HCI and intelligent robots. This research highlights the existing technologies of listening, speaking, reading, writing, and other senses, which are widely used in human interaction. Based on these same technologies, this research introduces some intelligent robot systems and platforms. This paper also forecasts some vital challenges of researching HCI and intelligent robots. The authors hope that this work will help researchers in the field to acquire the necessary information and technologies to further conduct more advanced research.

A Review on Human-Computer Interaction and Intelligent Robots

Computer vision based technologies have seen widespread adoption over the recent years. This use is not limited to the rapid adoption of facial recognition technology but extends to facial expression recognition, scene recognition and more. These developments raise privacy concerns and call for novel solutions to ensure adequate user awareness, and ideally, control over the resulting collection and use of potentially sensitive data. While cameras have become ubiquitous, most of the time users are not even aware of their presence. In this paper we introduce a novel distributed privacy infrastructure for the Internet-of-Things and discuss in particular how it can help enhance user's awareness of and control over the collection and use of video data about them. The infrastructure, which has undergone early deployment and evaluation on two campuses, supports the automated discovery of IoT resources and the selective notification of users. This includes the presence of computer vision applications that collect data about users. In particular, we describe an implementation of functionality that helps users discover nearby cameras and choose whether or not they want their faces to be denatured in the video streams.

Assisting Users in a World Full of Cameras: A Privacy-Aware Infrastructure for Computer Vision Applications

The popularity of surveillance systems grows as well as a need for better security systems particularly in a bad lighting conditions or at night. The aim of a security system is to collect as many details as possible to enable a better recognition of persons. In this paper, a comparison of representative thermal face recognition methods will be given, emphasizing their strengths and weaknesses. Then, trends in the development of surveillance and security systems will be outlined such as fusion of visible and thermal images and use of convolutional neural networks. Also, existing challenges of thermal facial recognition and its applications in a real world will be pointed out.

A review of face recognition techniques has been carried out. Face recognition has been an attractive field in the society of both biological and computer vision of research. It exhibits the characteristics of being natural and low-intrusive. In this paper, an updated survey of techniques for face recognition is made. Methods of face recognition, such as, geometric, statistical and neu-ral networks approaches are presented and analyzed. The comparative performance of the vari-ous approaches is discussed.
