Journal ArticleDOI
Determination of age-related increases in large artery stiffness by digital pulse contour analysis.
TL;DR: Contour analysis of the DVP provides a simple, reproducible, non-invasive measure of large artery stiffness and produces similar changes in SI(DVP) and PWV(cf).
Journal ArticleDOI
Vasoactive Drugs Influence Aortic Augmentation Index Independently of Pulse-Wave Velocity in Healthy Men
TL;DR: In healthy men, vasoactive drugs may change aortic augmentation index independently from aorti pulse-wave velocity, and in healthy men with a history of vascular aging, the effects of vaso active drugs are unclear.
Journal ArticleDOI
Photoplethysmographic assessment of pulse wave reflection: blunted response to endothelium-dependent beta2-adrenergic vasodilation in type II diabetes mellitus.
Philip Chowienczyk,R P Kelly,R P Kelly,R P Kelly,Helen MacCallum,Helen MacCallum,Helen MacCallum,Sandrine Millasseau,Sandrine Millasseau,Sandrine Millasseau,Tomas Andersson,R. G. Gosling,R. G. Gosling,R. G. Gosling,James M. Ritter,James M. Ritter,James M. Ritter,Erik Änggård +17 more
TL;DR: The effects of albuterol on IP(DVP) are mediated in part through the nitric oxide pathway and are impaired in patients with type II diabetes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Noninvasive assessment of the digital volume pulse. Comparison with the peripheral pressure pulse.
Sandrine Millasseau,Franck G. Guigui,R P Kelly,Krishna Prasad,John R. Cockcroft,James M. Ritter,Philip Chowienczyk +6 more
TL;DR: The peripheral pressure pulse is related to the digital volume pulse by a transfer function, which is not influenced by effects of hypertension or NTG, and effects of NTG on the volume pulse and pressure pulse are likely to be determined by a similar mechanism.
Journal ArticleDOI
The vascular impact of aging and vasoactive drugs: comparison of two digital volume pulse measurements
TL;DR: In healthy men, RI(DVP) may be a more reliable index of the effects of vasoactive drugs than d/a and may thus be a better index of vascular aging.
