Journal ArticleDOI

Facilitation of contextual fear memory extinction and anti-anxiogenic effects of AM404 and cannabidiol in conditioned rats.

TL;DR: CBD, a non-psychoactive phytocannabinoid could be an interesting pharmacological approach to reduce the anxiogenic effects of stress and promote the extinction of fear memories.
Journal ArticleDOI

Short- and long-term effects of cannabinoids on the extinction of contextual fear memory in rats

TL;DR: The present results confirm and extend previous findings showing that the eCB system modulates short-term fear memory extinction with long-lasting consequences, and induced long-term effects induced by treatments with WIN55212 and AM404 were completely divergent to those of SR141716A treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI

Infusion of cannabidiol into infralimbic cortex facilitates fear extinction via CB1 receptors.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that repeated microinjections of CBD into the infralimbic cortex (IL) facilitated fear extinction, as indicated by reduced levels of freezing during extinction test, suggesting a potential therapeutic use of CBD for extinction-based therapies of aversive memories in humans.
Journal ArticleDOI

A current overview of cannabinoids and glucocorticoids in facilitating extinction of aversive memories: potential extinction enhancers.

TL;DR: The purpose of this review is to briefly outline the animal models of fear extinction and to describe how these have been used to examine the potential of extinction enhancing agents which specifically alter the eCB and glucocorticoid systems.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cannabidiol as a Therapeutic Alternative for Post-traumatic Stress Disorder: From Bench Research to Confirmation in Human Trials.

TL;DR: The goal of this review was to highlight the potential of CBD as a treatment for disorders related to inappropriate retention of aversive memories, by assessing evidence from preclinical to human experimental studies.
