Journal ArticleDOI
Importance of angina in patients with coronary disease, heart failure, and left ventricular systolic dysfunction: insights from STICH.
E. Marc Jolicœur,Allison Dunning,Serenella Castelvecchio,Rafal Dabrowski,Myron A. Waclawiw,Mark C. Petrie,Ralph A.H. Stewart,Pardeep S. Jhund,Patrice Desvigne-Nickens,Julio A. Panza,Robert O. Bonow,Benjamin Sun,Tan Ru San,Hussein R. Al-Khalidi,Jean L. Rouleau,Eric J. Velazquez,John G.F. Cleland +16 more
TL;DR: Angina does not predict all-cause mortality in medically treated patients with LV systolic dysfunction and CAD, nor does it identify patients who have a greater survival benefit from CABG, however, CABg does improve angina to a greater extent than medical therapy alone.
Journal ArticleDOI
Clinical characteristics and outcomes of patients with and without diabetes in the Surgical Treatment for Ischemic Heart Failure (STICH) trial.
Michael R. MacDonald,Lilin She,Torsten Doenst,Philip F. Binkley,Jean L. Rouleau,Ru San Tan,Kerry L. Lee,Alan B. Miller,George Sopko,Dominika Szalewska,Myron A. Waclawiw,Rafal Dabrowski,Serenella Castelvecchio,Christopher Adlbrecht,Robert E. Michler,Jae K. Oh,Eric J. Velazquez,Mark C. Petrie +17 more
TL;DR: The characteristics and clinical outcomes of patients with and without DM randomized to CABG and MED or MED alone were compared in this paper, where patients with DM had more triple vessel CAD, higher LVEF, and smaller left ventricular volumes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Burden of medical co-morbidities and benefit from surgical revascularization in patients with ischaemic cardiomyopathy.
Andrew P. Ambrosy,Susanna R. Stevens,Hussein R. Al-Khalidi,Jean L. Rouleau,Nadia Bouabdallaoui,Peter E. Carson,Christopher Adlbrecht,John G.F. Cleland,Rafal Dabrowski,Krzysztof S. Gołba,Ileana L. Piña,Carla A. Sueta,Ambuj Roy,George Sopko,Robert O. Bonow,Eric J. Velazquez +15 more
TL;DR: The interaction between the burden of medical co‐morbidities and the benefit from surgical revascularization has not been previously described in patients with ischaemic cardiomyopathy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Optimal medical therapy with or without surgical revascularization and long-term outcomes in ischemic cardiomyopathy.
Pedro Silvio Farsky,Jennifer White,Hussein R. Al-Khalidi,Carla A. Sueta,Jean L. Rouleau,Julio A. Panza,Eric J. Velazquez,Christopher M. O'Connor,Rafal Dabrowski,Ljubomir T Djokovic,Mark H. Drazner,Haissam Haddad,Imtiaz S. Ali,Matyas Keltai,Ajay Naik,George Sopko,Krzysztof S. Gołba,Bert Andersson,Peter E. Carson,Tomasz Kukulski +19 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors determined the possible relationship between coronary artery bypass grafting and optimal medical therapy and its effect on the outcomes of patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Incremental prognostic value of echocardiography of left ventricular remodeling and diastolic function in STICH trial
Kyung-Hee Kim,Lilin She,Kerry L. Lee,Rafal Dabrowski,Paul A. Grayburn,Miroslaw Rajda,David L. Prior,Patrice Desvigne-Nickens,William A. Zoghbi,Michele Senni,Guglielmo Stefanelli,Cesare Beghi,Thao Huynh,Eric J. Velazquez,Jae K. Oh,Grace Lin +15 more
TL;DR: LVESVI and E/A ratio were stronger predictors of prognosis than New York Heart Association functional class, anemia, diabetes, history of atrial fibrillation, and stroke and should be considered as standard in assessing risks in ischemic heart failure.
