Journal ArticleDOI
Environmental and health studies of farm workers in Swedish swine confinement buildings.
TL;DR: In a multiple regression analysis of the relation between 16 different environmental parameters to work period shifts of five pulmonary function parameters, endotoxin was found to be significantly related to the FEV1 in a dose dependent way.
Journal ArticleDOI
Airborne Bacteria, Endotoxin and Fungi in Dust in Poultry and Swine Confinement Buildings
TL;DR: Airborne dust in swine and poultry confinements was analyzed to determine concentrations of total and gram-negative bacteria, total fungi, Aspergillus fumigatus and endotoxin, and health studies of poultry and swine confinement workers with concurrent estimation of the individual daily exposure dose are warranted.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pulmonary Function and Symptoms after Inhalation of Endotoxin
TL;DR: The results further support the conclusions from epidemiologic and experimental studies that the bacterial endotoxin is responsible for the acute reactions seen after exposure to many organic dusts, including that derived from cotton.
Journal ArticleDOI
Endotoxin in the environment--exposure and effects.
TL;DR: It is possible that polymorphism in genes determining endotoxin reactivity, particularly TLR-4, influences the risk for disease after environmental exposures, and some data suggest that the inflammation caused by inhaled endotoxin may decrease therisk for atopic sensitisation among children and lung cancer among workers exposed to organic dust.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic polymorphism of cytochrome P4502E1 in a Swedish population : relationship to incidence of lung cancer
I. Persson,Inger Johansson,Helene Bergung,Marja-Liisa Dahl,Janeric Seidegård,Ragnar Rylander,Agneta Rannug,Johan Högberg,Magnus Ingelman Sundberg +8 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that major interethnic differences exist in the genetic polymorphism of CYP2E1 and that people carrying the mutated allele (c2) among the lung cancer patients as compared to controls might be at lower risk for developing lung cancer.
