Journal ArticleDOI
Steatosis and liver cancer in transgenic mice expressing the structural and nonstructural proteins of hepatitis C virus.
Hervé Lerat,Masao Honda,Michael R. Beard,Kim Loesch,Jiaren Sun,Yan Yang,Michiari Okuda,Rainer Gosert,Shu-Yuan Xiao,Steven A. Weinman,Stanley M. Lemon +10 more
TL;DR: Constitutive expression of viral proteins leads to common pathologic features of hepatitis C in the absence of specific anti-viral immune responses, while additional low level expression of nonstructural proteins increases the risk of cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Transient expression of cellular polypyrimidine-tract binding protein stimulates cap-independent translation directed by both picornaviral and flaviviral internal ribosome entry sites In vivo.
Rainer Gosert,Ki Ha Chang,Rene Rijnbrand,Min Kyung Yi,David V. Sangar,Stanley M. Lemon,Stanley M. Lemon +6 more
TL;DR: PTB stimulates translation of representative picornaviral and flaviviral RNAs in vivo, likely to reflect the stabilization of higher ordered RNA structures within the IRES and was not observed with PTB mutants lacking RNA recognition motifs located in the C-terminal third of the molecule.
