Reflections on trusting distributed trust
TL;DR: This work proposes a framework that enables a developer to efficiently and cheaply set up any distributed-trust system in a publicly auditable way, and identifies two application-independent building blocks that can be used to bootstrap arbitrary distributed- trust applications: secure hardware and an append-only log.

TL;DR: It is argued that to achieve this goal of flexible workload placement, cloud computing will require intermediation, provided by systems the authors call intercloud brokers, so that individual customers do not have to make choices about which clouds to use for which workloads, but can instead rely on brokers to optimize their desired criteria.
