Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of repeated suboptimal chlorate treatment on ruminal and fecal bacterial diversity.
Ramon Copado,C. Arzola,Sharon V. R. Epps,Felipe Alonso Rodríguez-Almeida,O. Ruiz,C. Rodríguez-Muela,Yamicela Castillo,Agustín Corral-Luna,Jaime Salinas +8 more
TL;DR: Heterogeneity within and between groups provided no evidence of an effect of chlorate treatment on ruminal or fecal microbial populations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of repeated-low level sodium chlorate administration on ruminal and fecal coliforms in sheep
C. Arzola,Ramon Copado,Sharon V. R. Epps,Felipe Alonso Rodríguez-Almeida,Oscar Ruiz-Barrera,C. Rodríguez-Muela,Agustín Corral-Luna,Yamicela Castillo-Castillo,D. Díaz-Plascencia +8 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that the low chlorate doses used here were suboptimal for the control of coliforms in the gastrointestinal tract of ewes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of Select Tannin Sources on Pathogen Control and Microbial Nitrogen Metabolism in Composted Poultry Litter Intended for Use as a Ruminant Crude Protein Feedstuff
Claudio Arzola-Alvarez,Robin C. Anderson,Michael E. Hume,Evelyn Ledezma,Oscar Ruiz-Barrera,Yamicela Castillo-Castillo,A. Arzola-Rubio,Marina Ontiveros-Magadan,B. R. Min,Lauren Wottlin,Ramon Copado,Jamie Salinas-Chavira +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the ability of tannins to reduce pathogens and preserve uric acid during poultry litter composting was evaluated in two experiments where poultry litter was mixed with phosphate buffer and distributed to 50-ml tubes (three tubes/treatment per sample day) amended with 1 ml buffer alone or buffer containing pine bark, quebracho, chestnut, or mimosa tannin.
