Status and characteristics of ambient PM2.5 pollution in global megacities

TL;DR: The results showed that the five most polluted megacities were Delhi, Cairo, Xi'an, Tianjin and Chengdu, all of which had an annual average concentration of PM2.5 greater than 89μg/m(3), while the five cleanest megac cities were Miami, Toronto, New York, Madrid and Philadelphia.
Journal ArticleDOI

Urban air pollution: a representative survey of PM2.5 mass concentrations in six Brazilian cities

TL;DR: The long-term health effects for each metropolitan region is discussed in terms of excess mortality risk, which translates to greater health care expenditures, which could prove useful to decision makers at local environmental agencies.
Journal ArticleDOI

Vehicle emissions and PM2.5 mass concentrations in six Brazilian cities

TL;DR: In this study, the contributions that vehicle emissions make to the urban fine particulate matter (PM2.5) mass in six state capitals in Brazil are quantified, collecting data for use in a larger project evaluating the impact of air pollution on human health.
Journal ArticleDOI

Vehicular particulate matter emissions in road tunnels in Sao Paulo, Brazil

TL;DR: This study presents emission factor data for fine particles, coarse particles, inhalable particulate matter and black carbon, as well as size distribution data for inhalate matter, in the Jânio Quadros and Maria Maluf road tunnels, both located in São Paulo.
