Journal ArticleDOI
Functional analysis of a rare HBV deletion mutant in chronically infected children.
TL;DR: The circulation of HBV preS deletion mutants is rare in childhood, however, functional and clinical follow-up studies in one child suggest that such a mutant may have the potential to aggravate liver inflammation, especially if corroborated with larger numbers of children.
Book ChapterDOI
Deletion and insertion mutants of HBsAg particles
TL;DR: A detailed deletion mutagenesis of the S gene of HBV encoding HBsAg is performed and insertion and deletion/substitution mutants carrying a poliovirus epitope at the N- terminus and the preS1 region at the C-terminus have been characterized.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hepatitis B virus movement through the hepatocyte: An update
TL;DR: An overview of HBV maturation, assembly, and budding is provided, with a focus on recent advances, and areas where questions remain that can benefit from future studies are pointed out.
Book ChapterDOI
Structural and Functional Analysis of ypt Proteins, a Family of ras-Related Nucleotide-Binding Proteins in Eukaryotic Cells
Dieter Gallwitz,H. Haubruck,Constance Molenaar,Reinhild Prange,Mechthild Puzicha,Hans Dieter Schmitt,Constantin E. Vorgias,Peter Wagner +7 more
TL;DR: This work has shown that a large number of genes encoding guanine nucleotide-binding proteins that are related to the potentially oncogenic ras proteins are likely to be involved in different regulatory pathways in all eukaryotic cells.
